A political adviser to Stormy Daniels, the porn star who's considering a Senate run in Louisiana, told a New Orleans TV station Monday that someone bombed his car.

Brian Welsh, who wasn't hurt in the incident, posted surveillance video of his car exploding on YouTube. He told ABC 26, the local affiliate, that there's footage of an unidentified man opening the car door and throwing something inside before it explodes. There's video of someone moving around near the car, but it's unclear what he or she is doing.

Welsh said he wants to be "careful" about pointing fingers, but thinks someone may have been trying to send him a message.

"When you rule out everything else, you're sort of left with the obvious," Welsh said. "It's too early for me to go pointing fingers. I'd like to hear what officially happened and then we'll take it from there."

XBIZ, an adult industry trade publication, is also reporting that Daniels was arrested Saturday for a domestic violence misdemeanor and was held overnight.

Late update: Welsh also did an interview yesterday with WGSO, a New Orleans radio station. He said the explosion happened Thursday while he and his wife were out walking their dog, and repeated that he wants to "withhold judgment" on possible motives.

He did, however, say Daniels would not be deterred from her political career.

"What we're talking about and what we've been doing over the past few months is way too important to have it been deterred by the loss of a nice little car," he said.

The police and fire departments are investigating, he said. We're waiting to hear back from them now.

That would be a funny comment if this weren't so serious. So this is what it has come down to? How scary this is. Susan Eisenhower on Bill Maher's show this past Friday made a comment which was right on the money -about how frightening the situation this country is in with hate and we are teetering on the edge. I think we have fallen off

I don't know...something stinks about this, and something about the guy talking says to me he's not as worked up about it as one would think he should be.
The thing that strikes me is that he frames the entire episode in terms of politics, rather than personal. Usually that occurs much later on, not so soon after the attack.
I don't know...but if I were the police, I'd start my investigation with him, and work my way out from there.

In a related note, I think Stormy Daniels may have just experienced the least-significant mid-campaign arrest in the annals of politics.

Everyone who has watched NCIC immediately is thinking that the picture can be enhanced and suspect recognized; at least we are hoping that is possible!

So what? When James Carville talks, I hear banjoes - and that guy is a brilliant strategist. Southern accents aren't indicative of a lack of intellect.

When I first read the headline, I thought her advisor went to Iraq or something.. No one is surprised by a "car bomb"? Now that surprises me.

Why would you say that? Is that a stunt you yourself have pulled in the past, thus granting you the wisdom of personal experience?

Don't be so quick to accuse other people of felonious conduct, particularly when you're ignorant of all the facts.

in the past, i've known a number of people who've claimed to have participated in such scams, so yes, i do have some personal experience in the matter.

I also suspect you've been hanging out with mickey kaus and fellating goats recently.
