Lindsey needs to spend some quality time in Argentina. Relax a little.

I believe Lindsey has to play the role of being tougher on Sotomayor to appease Rush Limbaugh.

Lindsey is just scoring points with the base with this nonsense. As for Judge Sotomayor, all she has to do is not lose her cool and she's in, just like Lindsey boy himself noted yesterday. It's all just theater.

I love this exchange at the end:

Sotomayor: "And I would hope that we've come in America to the place where we can look at a statement that could be misunderstood and consider it in the context of the person's life, and the work they've done."

Sessions: "You know what, if that comes of this hearing, the hearing has been worth it all, that some people deserve a second chance when they misspeak and you would look at the entire life story to determine whether this is an aberration or just a reflection of your real soul."

I think they call that "agreeing to disagree". She's saying that it would be nice if we could stop beating someone over the head with our interpretation of their words, and he's saying he agrees -- as long as the person admits that they misspoke.

In other words -- ain't gonna happen.

Lindsay Graham (o great buddy of John McCain and Joseph Lieberman) defines the concept of sanctimonious. Mr. JAG is so self-absorbed that he doesn't realize when he's making an ass of himself, which is generally any time he opens up his "thoughtful" mouth. He's now trying to redeem himself with Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh by typically inane bullying and embarrassing self-righteousness. That Scalia is quite a pussycat. Graham is worried that Sotomayor might hurt his feelings if she ends up on the court.

I don't know, it looks like a courtship to me. They're both single.

It is like in those movies where a woman and a man always argue and fight. You know they're going to end up together.

Why does LG keep misquoting her? I believe she talked about a "wise Latina." He keeps talking about a "wise Latino"? You would expect a person who is so sensitive to the nuances of identity politics to be straight about his gender?

Is Graham really out of line? This is our political system-- Dems walk Democratic nominees through while Republicans fight it & vicer-versa. You could put together a similar highlight reel for Pat Leahy if you wanted.

these hearings are such amazing bull$hit. Both sides grandstand to their base. They don't give a rip about getting to know the person they are questioning...

Clearly Graham's earlier comment about her confirmation being certain unless she has a meltdown was an attempted Jedi mind trick to compel her to react to his later bullying with a meltdown. Shucks, I bet it works for him with his aides.

Graham must hate women and holds a double standard. He quotes an anonymous source questioning Sotomayer’s temperament. When will anonymous sources ever be allowed in a court of law but I guess in this process its perfectly ok. Graham neglected to site the 100’s of lawyers who raved about her temperament and legal prowess
