During a protest Monday outside the Anchorage office of Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK), demonstrators carried signs saying, "ObamaCare = Euthanasia" and "Kill the Bill or Kill the Seniors."
"If we have ObamaCare, the older citizens will be euthanized," one protester said. When asked what part of the bill made her think that, she responded, "All of it."
"If they [senior citizens] need any health benefits, they will not be given the benefits because we're not productive anymore," another demonstrator said. The government will send a "representative," she said, "to let us know what we want to do in our last days, because we won't get any medicine, and medical help at all."
She said she'd read the bill -- or at least "parts of it."
"I read it online," she said.

I for one wish the death panels were a real idea. But, instead of the old, we could line up the stupid! Their home office could be in Alaska (or South Carolina)!

Republicans have only weakened their counterargument with these outrageous fear tactics. When they make accusations that the majority of reasonable people consider ridiculous, then their other arguments become suspect. By allowing government euphanization to become the party's main talking point, they've lost all credibility on the issue of health care reform.

I guess as an Alaskan I'm interested to find out how the demand for "sovereignty" and the presence of out-of-state protesters are reconciled.
I've never been a big fan of tourists but the ones that come to MY state to protest the leaders that I elected can fuck off.
I fear the know-nothings outnumber the rest of us.
I want single payor, as a small business owner I'm tired of having my entire financial future hung on the inclusions/exclusions of some overpriced health insurance policy. If anyone in my family gets cancer we all lose our home, and business, and pets, and cars... and freedom.
Old people need to sit down and shut the fuck up, their exclusive free ride is coming to an end. Being old doesn't make someone a more valuable member of society by default.
