Betsy McCaughey, possibly the first person to equate end-of-life counseling with government-enforced euthanasia, has resigned from the medical equipment company where she was a director.
McCaughey, a former lieutenant governor of New York, appeared on The Daily Show last night to talk about health care reform, and was repeatedly torn down by host Jon Stewart.
Cantrel Medical Corp., which creates specialized medical devices such as dialysis machines, announced today that McCaughey submitted her letter of resignation yesterday.

Does anyone know how much money this golddigger got off of Wilbur Ross? I wonder is she even needs to "work?"

I thought Jon's head might explode. He's a smart, rational person who enjoys interviewing interesting people... unless the guest seems to be on acid. She's a good example of a need for improved mental health care in this country.

I like the part where she was trying to explain increases in healthcare spending by saying that people had more 'disposable income' to spend on healthcare so spending went up.
Perhaps healthcare is just one more component of the US's over indulgence in luxury items...like medicine and not dying and all....
In the interview intro did he mention she was employeed by the Hudson Institute? It seems like an important piece of information to make sense of her viewpoint.

It's amazing what a small dose of actual mass-media journalism can accomplish isn't it (basic cable quips notwithstanding)?
Too bad we have more fingers available on one hand needed to count those who practice such mass-reach journalism today. And, isn't it ironic in an age of entertainment-profits-driven "news" reading mass-reach media, that all of the shows featuring real rational reporting are comedy shows or heavily feature satire or other forms of humor at the heart of their content packaging?
At least this now makes two for a one-week period: Stewart outing McCaughy (who was also significant in killing health care reform in 92-93) and Rachel Maddow outing The Dick Armey over at FreedomWorks, making its parent organization a bit too uncomfortable to keep him in their employ.
It's a good template. Or, as Rachel said on her show when reporting about a local news reporter outing the political ties of a woman protesting at a Minnesota town hall representing herself as not having political ties (she was a high operative in the state's Rethuglican Party), "Ta-da! Journalism!!"

Yes, this really is good news and the connection is clear: she resigned the next day! Army's resignation was quick, too.

Not to mention Bill Kristol who said "The Government Can Run A First Class Healthcare System (for soldiers) and that it is better than the Private Healthcare System.
