A town hall attendee who told Sen. Arlen Specer (D-PA) that she doesn't want to see America turn into Russia appeared on Fox News after the event and offered her chilling view of the country's future:
I know that years down the road, I don't want my children coming to me and asking me, 'Mom, why didn't you do anything? Why do we have to wait in line for, I don't know, toilet paper or anything?' I don't want to have to tell them I didn't do anything. As a normal citizen, the most I feel like I can do is come to this town hall meeting.
"The country is slowly being ripped apart," said Katy Abram, who identified herself as someone who didn't care about politics until the last few years. "It scares the life out of me."
Abram was one of 30 people selected to ask a question to Specter. When she got up, she said, in part, "It's not about health care ... It's about the systematic dismantling of this country ... I don't want this country turning into Russia, turning into a socialized country. I want to restore this country to what it was under the Constitution."

Gotta love Nancy Snyderman, who just showed this clip and noted, "Of course Russia isn't a socialized country, ..."
It's these folks who "didn't care about politics" until the Lameball started frightening them with his Big Lies who really ARE dangerous to this country's freedom.

Is the protest against Health Care Reform genuine or an effort to destroy President Obama?

Yes, because the last time I checked, the Constitution hadn't been repealed or rewritten.
Which gets to a fundamental question I have about all of the wingnuttery among the Deathers and teabaggers and their ilk: has even one of them attempted to provide specific examples of how Obama has ruined the country? Can they point to how their lives have changed since he took office? (Other than being tipped over the edge from to genuine insanity, that is.) And why does no one in the media ever, ever call them on it when they spout that stuff about "what the country was under the Constitution," etc?

This meme was started by Rush Limbaugh on his show yesterday - he talked at length about the toilet paper shortage in Cuba, and how that would be the future of the United States. So she's not just coming up with this inanity out of thin air - it's being pushed by all the right-wing heavies. None of these people think for themselves.

Gosh, Rush and that young women need to hear how the old Sears catalogues ultimately ended up in the outhouse. Given how much junk mail we all get today, the supply of the old TP substitute should be plentiful.
They just have to be instructed that modern plumbing will require used pages be placed in the trash, not the toilet.

Did the media give this much attention to the protesters during Bush's administration? I just don't remember them giving that much credence to the war protesters, etc. It just seems that if a Republican farts, the media covers it as the news. I'm getting real bored with this daily wingnut coverage.

Remember that under the Bush administration, suspected opposition members were not allowed into the events in the first place, and that protestors were penned into "free speech zones" far from the actual venue where they would get no attention from the press.

Honestly, you can't fix stupid. This will play out, hopefully for the good. But as long as Fox News calls this sort of stuff "informed" and "articulate," there really isn't any stopping it.

Apparently this womans understanding of politics and the nation is limited to what she's been told by Glen Beck.
http://www.meetup.com/members/3510141/
This website is also called "Conservative Meetup" and if you dig a little deeper you can see not only that she's been a member since February, but has been on the waiting list to join some sort of Glen Beck meet-up group (do they have to screen their members that thoroughly?)

Not to put too fine a point on it... but this woman's an idiot. Whenever I hear the word socialism mentioned with respect to the health care debate or any matter concerning US politics, I immediately stop listening and put the person saying it into the 'idiot' or 'disingenous' box. To mention the word socialism to describe anything on the American political scene means you don't have a working definition of the word. Seeing things like this is really disconcerting and makes you throw up your hands.

Check out Glenn Beck's logical conclusion that a level playing field in our society will lead to slavery.
