Erick Erickson called Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) a "great American hero" in a post at his website, RedState.com.

His palpable excitement - "he gets a drink on me!" - followed Wilson's shout of "you lie!" to President Obama during his speech last night.

The conservative also wrote that Sen. Bob Bennett (R-UT) is an "unrepentant fool" for applauding Obama when he addressed the false rumors of death panels. "Bob Bennett (RINO-UT) was the only Republican who stood up and clapped when Barack Obama bashed Sarah Palin over the death panels," he said. "That jackass should be taken out in a primary."

The focus on Joe Wilson (R-Teabaggers) is letting the rest of the house Republicans off-the-hook - With their props and signs, with Eric Cantor on his blackberry like a bored 14 yr old girl. There was the laughing, and other catcalls as well.

If any Democrats did this - shouted down George W. Bush as a liar when he was spinning his lies about the Iraq War the right would have called them traitors. Erick Erickson would have been frothing at the mouth.

Well, Walter, while what you say is without a doubt absolutely correct, I think your suprise at Erickson's potential for hypocrisy clouds your comprehension of the basic fact that Erick Erickson is, indisputably, merely parading as a blogger when he is, in reality, a large bag of vinegar and water douche.

If any Democrat had yelled at Bush while he lied our way into war in front of Congress, s/he would have been publicly flogged and carted off to Guantanamo.

Dems should run with the Bennett thing too. I missed that. Thanks Erick. Is Bob Bennett going to be a grown-up about death panels? Remains to be seen, but worth probing.

I have to go with John Mccain over Eric Erickson on this one. Regardless of someone's opinion in the House, the president deserves a show of respect in front of both houses of Congress. It is a shame Obama takes the high road as often as he does. He should have spotlighted Mr Wilson with a direct retort to his comment so all the cameras zoomed in on Mr Wilson.

My local press is saying that Wilson's out-of-control anger has led to solidification among Democrats for the need to pass Obama's health care proposal. The ironic legacy for Wilson may end up being that he -- inadvertently-- helped get health care reform passed.

Teabagger: Liar!
President Obama: 1+3=4
Teabagger: Socialists!
President Obama: 3+3=6
Teabagger: Hitler could add too!

If a Congressman has no respect for the Commander in Chief in a public forum in the Capitol, he has no respect for the burdens he bears and for those thousands of service men and women who risk their lives every day in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While no fan of McCain, his respect for the military and the chain of command is a no brainer for him, as the son and grandson of USN admirals who put their lives on the line under presidents of both parties, it is in McCain's genes.

Clearly, Joe Wilson, Erikson and his red state dittoheads are cowards and malcontents who could never be counted on to defend this nation, and who dishonor those who do under this administration.

If any proof is needed of the fact that Wilson is a coward, the fact he bolted, he ran away to hide, out of the chamber at the end of the speech, that is evidence enough.

Wilson's Red State supporters would run too if ever needed by their country, they are chickenshit cowards.

Conservative hero he may be, but the best revenge would be donating $20 or $50 to Rob Miller, and sending Erick Erickson a thank-you for the motivation.

He's up to $535,000. Let's help him crack $600 grand in 24 hours.

We have to make Joe Wilson a litmus test of Republicans. This shows the lie to "bipartisanship." They have no interest in decency, honor or respect.

They hate our president because he is of mixed race.

Joe Wilson got apoplectic about Strom Thurmond's "miscegentation." His supporters are now rallying behind him, in Columbia.

They still fly a confederate flag over the capitol grounds for crying out loud!

No mercy. Make them surrender or secede!

Rumor has it South Carolina will soon change its state motto from, "Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places," to "Liars, Crooks, and Thieves." -- likely due to the early ravages by Pirates in its colorful history?

See factcheck.org

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/seven-falsehoods-about-health-care/

"Smiling Faces" just won't wash with that total coward in office -- he even closed down his website last night -- in fear of being seen by other states with a frown?

:( = SC new state symbol, over the Palmetto Palm, alas.

Well, Erick did not leave the matter to his pathetic blog either. He went to his mailing list. Here's what he sent out:

The Democrat opponent to Congressman Joe Wilson has raised over $100,000.00 since last night.

What have you given to Joe Wilson. The man spoke for America. And now we need to open our wallets for Joe.

It does no good to pat Joe on the back or give him an "atta boy." Joe Wilson needs us to open our wallets and checkbooks. Joe Wilson is now a serious threat to Barack Obama because he dared point out that the Emperor has no clothes. The left will target him. The left will target his family. The left will try to destroy Joe Wilson.

We can stop the left. But we must give generously to Joe.

Prove that conservatives are not pathetic activists. Put your money where your mouth is.

Please! A primary from the right for the honorable Representative from Utah.

Obviously, Rep. Wilson was out of bounds. While his outburst lacked civility, it was not entirely without merit. See http://www.factcheck.org/2009/09/obamas-health-care-speech/. Without a specific enforcement mechanism, Section 246 of the house bill is meaningless.

This would be an unenforceable law. Much like current drug laws, immigration laws, securities laws, etc--we don't have the resources to enforce a prohibition against illegal immigrants availing themselves of medical care. So, why pretend that we will prohibit them from doing so?

The President should acknowledge this and dispense with the pretense of not covering illegal immigrants. Progressives should either make the argument for covering all people in the country, including illegal immigrants, or amend the bill and allocate the resources to prevent illegal immigrants from being covered.

To say one thing and then doing another is, to my mind, a lie. And that is precisely what is happening here. I do not blame Obama for this. All politicians do it. But the press and the public need to hold them accountable. Otherwise, we will get a result very different from the policy we are advocating. And, any budget calculations will be ridiculous if they do not take the cost of care for illegal immigrants into consideration.
