I really do not wish to defend the moron, but....
'a breach of decorum and degraded the proceedings of the joint session, to the discredit of the House'
I like the idea of heckling in the congress, its a good thing!
The Dems say they are condemning him not for his words but for his actions.
I, however, condemn him for his words but NOT his actions!
What he said was a baseless LIE - and, for that he should be condemned.
But I like what he did.
Does this make sense?

Understand what you are saying, but it is against the House Rules. If these folks are to make the laws then they MUST follow the rules/laws -

Vol. 105, No. 14
September 29, 1998
"The freedom of speech in debate in the House of Representatives should never be denied or abridged, but freedom of speech in debate does not mean license to indulge in personal abuses or ridicule. The right of Members of the two Houses of Congress to criticize the official acts of the President and other executive officers is beyond question, but this right is subject to proper rules requiring decorum in debate."
-Cannon’s Precedents, Volume 8, Section 2497
If you want to heckle, stay at home and yell at your TV like the rest of us. If you want to represent your constituents, sit and act like a professional.

No it does not make sense. There are rules of decorum and you don't do this in the House, ever. You can have an opinion about that, but the remedy is for you to ask them to change the rules if you really care about it.
Further, the President of the United States was speaking. He is not only head of government but chief of state. You do not treat the head of state like that and certainly never in a formal setting when giving an address. You wouldn't do it to the Queen of England and you wouldn't do it to our President either.
Unless he's black, of course, because what kind of head of state which is the message that the old Strom Thurmond staffer wanted to send and did send.

to Heckle or Not to Heckle? This has nothing to do with Joe Wilson's views, there is a time and place for everything. They learned that most Americans don't approve of this tactic.
I am happy that they voted to disapprove!

Sigh. This is the political equivalent of a strongly worded memo. Sorry, Dems, but for all the "Change" you've been embracing, it all seems the same to me.
