Stumping for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Sunday, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani warned that with the "wrong political leadership," the city could see a return to higher crime rates and fear among citizens, according to the New York Times.
Even recently, Guiliani said, some neighborhoods were fraught with "the fear of going out at night and walking the streets."
"You know exactly what I'm talking about," Mr. Giuliani said at a breakfast sponsored by the Jewish Community Council in Borough Park, Brooklyn. "This city could very easily be taken back in a very different direction -- it could very easily be taken back to the way it was with the wrong political leadership."
Bloomberg, an Independent running as a Republican, is seeking his third term as mayor. At the event Sunday, Giuliani didn't mention Bloomberg's opponent, Democrat William Thompson, by name.

Someday the public and the media will realize the extent to which Giuliani merely got lucky and benefited from the Clinton economic prosperity and its resulting plummeting national urban crime rates. Once again, Giuliani overrates himself.

I just had a property manager tell me that crime is back up in a Brooklyn neighborhood that has seen a lot of gentrification in the last 10 years, so I'm not sure it's up to Mayor Mike. I think Bloomberg has done a fine job, and there's no reason at all to let Guiliani ruin his good name with his racial scaremongering that we have done perfectly well without since he left office. Go find a career Rudy, and stay the hell out of NY politics we don't need you.

This is code for LOOK OUT BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE WILL TAKE OVER NEW YORK CITY.
And it goes without saying (to Giuliani's audience) that black people = drug-addicted dangerous criminals.
Giuliani made identical coded comments during the Republican presidential debates. I was always shocked that no one ever called him on it. Not even TPM.

"You know, the way it was under that other mayor, the one who wasn't Italian or Jewish, you know who I mean." (wink, wink, nod, nod)

Exactly! That's what Rudy means! A black mayor will usher in a rise in black-on-white crime, just like it did (according to Rudy) with David Dinkins. So look out Jews! Don't vote for African American mayoral candidate Bill Thompson!
Giuliani is a reprehensible scumbag of a human being. That former lifelong Democrat Michael Bloomberg would even accept Rudy's calls tells me all I need to know about Bloomberg.

Means a lot coming from the guy who orchestrated the coverup and destruction of evidence of the biggest crime scene in America's history.

Give it a rest Winston. Those of us who saw it happen and lost loved ones don't need that kind of crap.
