TD Ameritrade announced today that former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush will appear together at the TD Ameritrade Institutional 2010 National Conference in Orlando, FL next year.

The conference, which will take place from February 3-6, will bring together investment advisers and other industry professionals to discuss the future of the financial services industry.

Bush and Clinton will appear for the hour-long keynote discussion on February 4, moderated by TD Ameritrade Institutional President Tom Bradley. Bradley said of the appearance: "We are thrilled to be able to bring such distinguished leaders to our national conference and offer advisers a balanced discussion on global issues impacting their business and their clients." This year is expected to attract the largest-ever crowd to the 14-year old conference, which drew more than 1,000 investment advisers last year.

The conference will mark the second time former Presidents Clinton and Bush will appear together at an event, the first being a Toronto forum back in May. That event, which drew 6,000 attendees, was surprisingly amiable, with President Bush even referring to Clinton as his "brother." Bush also joked about ticket prices for the event, which ranged from $200-$2,500, saying "President Clinton and I used to believe in free speech, so thanks very much for coming."

This is a new low, even for TD Ameritrade. Only in Bizarro world would anyone consider George Bush even slightly qualified or credible to give advice or discuss finance. I'm stunned, to say the least.

it's not too surprising if you consider the banks and investement industry to own the government. it's like reggie jackson and don mattingly speaking at a yankees dinner.

Hasn't Bill discredited himself enough? This is a financial conference & that's bush for Gods sake. Unless the idea is to show contrasts between good & evil in the economy, I don't get it.

Please, big Bubba provided the early regulatory loopholes, and bonny Prince George the W turned those loopholes into open spigots for the banks and financial services sector to create the mess we are now in, and we are supposed to take the insights of these two banking idustry whores on these issues seriously?

Give me a big ass break

Latimer's recent book quoted Bush as not understanding what he was signing with Paulson's bailout. Now he's an expert.

Allow me to be the first respond here with a positive comment about former President Clinton: He presided over and steered policy during the longest and largest national economic expansion in the history of the universe, poverty rates declined, real median wages actually showed some growth, the federal deficit was eliminated and the growth in federal debt was actually arrested and reversed at the end of his term. Also under Clinton probably less than 1% of killed or injured US civilian terror victims, US service people, and non-US civilian collateral victims compares with GW Bush's presidency.

Please return to your regularly scheduled bashing of all elected officials, acknowledging none of the vast differences in their individual ideologies, enacted agendas or empirical results of their leadership terms. Clinton screwed up some, Bush screwed up some, two peas in a pod I guess.

Bush has always had someone to prop him up. Most memorable, was involving his parents in the New Orleans disaster.
Why the Big Dog helps him out like this is disturbing. W' shouldn't be able to show his face anywhere, and he likely wouldn't alone.
