Rachel Maddow played a radio clip on her show Friday night of former President George H.W. Bush calling MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Maddow "sick puppies."
Bush was apparently trying to explain to a radio interviewer why there was a lack of civility in politics today.
"I don't like it," Bush said. "I think the cables have a lot to do with it."
And it's not just the right. There's plenty of people on the left.
The former president then offered to give a couple examples. "Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow," he said. "I mean here are a couple of sick puppies."
He continued: "The way they treat my son and treat anybody who's opposed to their point of view is just horrible."
Here's the video:

Could there be a better, more ringing endorsement of Keith and Rachel's legitimacy than this?
This is better than the medal of freedom he gave to Sam Walton for destroying Main Street.
The irony is palpable.

Sick? Sick?
I'll tell you sick. Sick is when you, G.H.W. Bush, as RNC Chairman decided to override the vote of the college republicans and award the top position to a back-stabbing, lying little piss-ant like Karl Rove.
That, Mr. Bush - that is sick.

There is no reason to report on this man. He did nothing as president except, just like his son did, let Dick Cheney run amok and manufacture wars. He does nothing now. Please pretend he is dead.

Say what you want about Keith and Rachel, but unlike Faux News, they deal in facts.

What a two faced prick!
If it weren't for him and Atwater our politics would not have descended as quickly as it did into the cesspool it has become. What Bush would like (as would all Republicans) is for everybody in the official media to make nice like they did in the past while the Republicans stir the pot, assassinate the character of their opponents, lie with abandon, etc... He's just angry that the enemy is shooting back and he's whining about it. Too fucking bad!

Uh huh. Except that some of us remember how the wingnuts reacted after GHWB broke his 'no new taxes' pledge.
And all the wingnut psychosis during the Clinton era. And ever since.

It's sad to see a father try so hard to try and save face for a son who turned out to be the worst president in 150 years.
Sorry Bush, sr.
Maybe you should start by apologizing to atheists who you said were not real Americans.
The Tillman family would like one.

Bush junior ran every business he was given by daddy to play with into the ground, with the exception of the Texas Rangers (the only reason being the Rangers organization wouldn't let him decide anything). Then junior ran the United States into the ground. Nice work, Dad.

This son of a bitch is a bigger criminal than his little boy, and he has the temerity to whine about the lack of civility in politics? Same old republican bullshit, next!

"Sick puppies"? Any criticism of his wretched failure of a son earns this geezer's scorn. He's loyal, but dead wrong. A typical republican!
My remaining respect for 41 just took a body blow.

And we've named an aircraft carrier after this guy! (Imagine serving on the "Bush"! Sailors are gonna love that one.) Since when did we name ships after living ex-presidents? Oh IOKIYAR.
