Yesterday, TPM reported that 76 House Republicans want to officially commend the 9/12 tea partiers' march. Today, the Washington Independent unearths a similar resolution, introduced earlier this month, to honor the "fact-finding reporting" done by Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III, the "government watchdogs" who filmed undercover video of ACORN.

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) introduced the resolution to honor the "exemplary actions" of the young conservatives, who dressed up as a prostitute and a pimp and secretly filmed ACORN workers giving them advice on how to commit fraud.

Giles and James "are owed a debt of gratitude by the people of the United States," the resolution reads.

The videos led to a vote in the House to de-fund ACORN, a large community organization that advocates for the poor (and a favorite target of conservatives). Because of that, reads the resolution, the sting videos "resulted in the potential annual savings of millions of taxpayer dollars."

Olson's managed to get just two co-sponsors for his resolution. The 9/12 resolution, introduced by Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), on the other hand, has 75 co-sponsors.

These Republican clowns are doing this and tying it to the extension of unemployment benefits. It's clear where their priorities are and they're not with the American people. This is just one more reason to never vote for a Republican. Do you supose none of their constituents are unemployed? Or do they just not give a damn. The Democrats campaign ads against these idiots practically write themselves!

How can the Dem's, in the majority, allow this to happen? Is it even possible that this could become an amendment to a bill?

Apparently the GOP is wholly unable to self-reflect and see how their ridiculously childish antics are directly related to their losing credibility and members across the board. I hope they never wake up.

Thank you, Rep. Olson, for being the biggest idiot in Congress for the day. Normally that title goes to mine, Paul "the Cloun" Broun.

I think the Dems should introduce a resolution for the commendable work of the 9/11 Commission that showed that George W. royally f***ed up and hid evidence from Congress. It should also commend all those fact finders who pushed the government to publish documents proving that the Cheney-Bush policy was institutionalized torture.

Jesus fucking Christ! How fucked up are these idiots! I applaud investigative journalism, but isn't there anything more important to do than have a resolution to honor them and the Tea Baggers? WTF!

This guy is another tool that needs to be put out to pasture. Get rid of these idiots that do nothing for the people. All they do is take their kickbacks and sell us out for MONEY. Time to exact term limits and get rid of these A$$HATS that don't give a rat's behind about the middle class, or what's left of it.

Term limits aren't the problem here.

Olson is a freshman GOPbot who unseated Lampson (D) in what was Delay's district.
