Bush U.N. Ambassador John Bolton weighs in on President Obama's Nobel Peace prize. Not surprisingly, the mustachioed neocon takes issue with the Nobel committee's decision.

From the National Review:

"He should decline it and then ask to be considered again in three or four years when he has a record."

More:

"Today's news is just another demonstration of how politicized the Nobel Peace Prize has become, from President Carter winning in 2002, to Al Gore in 2007, and President Obama in 2009."

"When the award was given to President Carter, the chairman of the committee said that it was a 'kick in the leg' to the Bush administration," recalls Bolton. "This is yet another 'kick in the leg' for the Bush administration."

Bolton says the main problem is that basis for the award itself. Bolton says awards should go for deeds not words:

"Today's prize, by the terms of the award itself, was made for President Obama's 'extraordinary efforts.' The Nobel Peace Prize should be for achievement, not effort," says Bolton. "Just look at the other Nobel prizes awarded this week, from physics to chemistry, they were given to those who have made tangible progress and achieved in their respective fields. Obama's award is just for effort."

Bolton also offers some advice on who's more deserving of the prize:

"I was nominated three years ago and I'm still waiting for the call."

If they gave a Nobel Prize for intemperate remarks, John Bolton would be on the short list.

I guess the Peace Prize Committee just doesn't appreciate the ability to spin intelligence and fear monger. By the way, was he ever confirmed as Ambassador? Shouldn't that title be Interim Representative or something at least as humiliating?

Curious. No one can be "nominated" for a Nobel. It just doesn't work that way. More proof that John Bolton is interminably full of shit.

Well, you can be nominated for a Nobel Prize. It's not unreasonable to assume that a head of state like, say, Bush, put forward Bolton's name as a nominee. But the Nobel committees never reveal names of nominees, so if anyone told Bolton he was a nominee, it was probably the nominator.

Whether the Nobel committee actually considered Bolton as a serious candidate for even a nanosecond is another question altogether.

I hate John Bolton as much as the next guy, but on this occassion he is right. The peace prize has become excessively politicized ... There is just no reason to nominate Obama right now ... He just hasn't accomplished enough, and by turning it down, he would bring himself above this blatant politicization of the award. If you don't believe me, go check glen greenwald.

Actually, Bolton's comments are pretty reasonable criticism; except for the last one, I actually agree with him. You know the Republicans are in trouble when John "screw the UN" Bolton is the most reasonable one in the crowd.

Shorter John Bolton on President Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize -

"Yo, I'm a let you finish, but Teddy Roosevelt had some of the best Presidential peace-making of all time!"

Okay, so it may not make the list of "Top Ten Kanye West Interruption Parodies" ...
