President Obama spoke briefly to reporters about his surprise trip to Dover Air Force Base early this morning to honor 18 Americans recently killed in Afghanistan.

"Obviously it was a sobering reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices that our young men and women in uniform are engaging in every single day. Not only our troops, but their families as well," he said.

"Michelle and I are constantly mindful of those sacrifices. And obviously, the burden that both our troops and their families bear in any wartime situation is gonna bear on how I see these conflicts," he continued. "And it is something that I think abut each and every day."

Here's the slideshow of Obama's visit.

Will rightwing bloggers/media criticize him for this visit?

Or will they criticize him as being too soft for saying that the sacrifices the troops and their families make will weigh on him as he's making any decision about the troops?

Was it appropriate for President Obama to salute the fallen when he's never been in the military?

Watching this video, having been involved in once upon a war, all I can think of is SAVAGE DISPASSIONATE cynicism. Just words and calculation - in the face of supreme tradgedy. The horror of it all. Is this a negative image to W? Tell me, oh ghost of Ms. Emerson.

Someone give him a copy of Ron Glasser's 365 Days. Then lock him out of the Oval Office until he finishes it.

Sounds like you got a hold of a bad piece of acid. Just hang in there and try to think happy thoughts. Another 6-10 hours and it will be all better.

Watch Hannity flat out lie about a poll he claims shows a majority of Americans supporting a troop increase in Afghanistan.

Sort of like when Lincoln facing the '64 elections goes to Gettysburg. What a cynical bastard he was.

You know how a visa is required in order to visit foreign countries, there ought to be one for posting here, that way we could identify the unwanted aliens who post here.
