Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of conservative web site RedState.com, today compared Linda Douglass, the spokeswoman for the White House Health Reform Office, to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

"Linda Douglass really is the Joseph Goebbels of the White House Health Care shop," Erickson tweeted this afternoon. He echoed the sentiment on RedState's homepage, wondering if Douglass "likes" being the Goebbels of the Health Reform Office.

A bit of history: in addition to taking control of every facet of German media, Goebbels, Hitler's minister of propaganda, burned books and organized Kristallnacht, an operation which destroyed Jewish businesses and synagogues, killed Jews and sent thousands to concentration camps.

Erickson has been on a bit of a bender when it comes to hyperbolic freakouts about the Obama administration.

He tried to compare Obama to Hitler after Chicago's failed Olympic bid, suggesting that Obama is actually worse than Hitler.

"Does it say more about the IOC or Obama that the IOC gave Hitler the Olympics, but not Obama?" Erickson wrote.

As TPMDC's own Eric Kleefeld points out, Berlin was selected for the 1936 Olympics five years earlier, in 1931, before Hitler came to power.

And at the announcement of President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, Erickson wrote, "I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news."

The remark garnered some outrage in the Twittersphere, but Erickson was nonplussed.

"Delighted at the level of shallow leftist rage for me calling Obama's Nobel Prize an affirmative action pick. You cannot parody the left," he tweeted later.

Good article. Erickson seems to be vying for Beck's crown!

Also: sorry to nitpick, but Erickson was probably unfazed, not nonplussed (means shocked).

Ah! So he fully admits that he has nothing substantial to contribute, but has utility only in attempting to fling shit.

Christ, what an asshole. In a bad tie.

Linda Douglass has not advocated killing any Jews.

Erick Erickson compares Douglas to Goebbels.

Erick Erickson denies that Joseph Goebbels worked to murder millions of Jews and is thus a Holocaust Denier.

Erick Erickson and Ahmed Ahmedenijad are in perfect agreement.

What he means is, HE cannot "parody the left," because he's not smart enough. What refreshing honesty!

he does a great parody of a reasonable, sentient human being though. In this case, nonplussed = dumb as a rock.

Asshat Erickson doesn't like the candidates the GOP is picking. They are too moderate, which means they have finally abandoned the core conservative mantras of low taxes and small government. So he is urging the tea baggers ... er... partiers, to take action:

Erick Erickson, founder and editor of the influential conservative blog RedState, has urged tea party activists to "put down the protest signs" and stage takeovers of local Republican parties.

Apparently, the many people changing their party membership from R to I does not deter Erickson from pursuing his dream. If there is any justice in this world, that means about 15% of the registered voters would still be core Republicans. Can't get elected to the zoning board with those numbers. Or even noticed.

These comparisons, aside from being utterly absurd and highly offensive to those who suffered as the result of Goebbels' manipulations, simply show just what the right wing is fixated on: the power Nazis wielded, and obviously envy.

Why do so many right wing republicans have the sleek, plump look - like they get their face polished every morning?

It's related to their inability to blush.

Perhaps Erickson's still upset over his failed defense of Governor Sanford's Appalachian Trail Hike:

If Linda Douglass did anything like this:

Then yes, she is a Nazi.

If not, Erick is -- at best -- catastrophically ignorant. The devolution of his possible character is rapid and scatalogical.
