Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele appeared on Fox this afternoon to talk about the RNC's newly relaunched web site, which has taken heat today and been down intermittently, presumably from a bump in traffic.
"It's not even really a web site," Steele said. "It's a new platform for us."
To those that have been mocking the site by saying just that, he said it's "a beta site."
Video after the jump.
"So we're working out a lot of the kinks and the bugs. So the Democrats can have some fun," he said.
Steele reminded the host, Shep Smith, that when he ran for chairman he promised to "take this party to the streets."
"We've done that, I think, in a very creative way," he said, adding that the site is "a new tool to communicate the new GOP."

I wouldn't really call server errors a tool of communication, but hey, I can get with his postmodern schtick. Shep would have been well-served to suggest that maybe it's really an alpha.

Typical GOP blather, the logical end result of the folks who enabled the Bush White House, they of the "We create our own reality" mindset. Up is Down, 2 + 2 does not in fact equal 4 despite what you elitists think, etc. Blah blah blah. Does he really think anyone is taking him seriously?

Looking forward (not really ) to him elaborating on what - pray tell - the "new GOP" entails.

What it seems to be communicating right now is "New GOP = epic f***up"
In other words: same as the old GOP, but funnier. This time, they're mostly doing it to themselves.

I love how they want to take their message to "the streets."
Hey streets! We're the GOP! Y'know, the old white guys that want to deny you affordable health coverage so health care companies can make more money! Y'know...dude...like...the ones that tried to kill of SCHIP healthcare for kids. Y'now, like, whassup, the guys that lied us into two wars and then cut veteran's benefits. Like yo! GOP in the House! Know what I'm sayin'...GOP in the House I mean, like absofuckinglutely crazy Michelle Bachman is a GOP in da House! And Rep Steve King of Iowa who has voted against everything that could possibly help anyone that is actually in the streets and not in a limo. You dig?

I liked what you were going for here, but this could've used a bit more nizzle shizzling. Is it possible that you are the party responsible for allowing the dogs to exit the fence perimeter? If not, can you identify the culprit?

Can anyone point to one - one!! - positive achievement from Steele since he took over the RNC? His tenure has been disturbingly similar to the Bush administration - failure piled on top of fail up alongside epic fail. You'd think the people behind the curtain would realize that incompetence is what drove them deep into the minority in the first place.

Most professional organizations keep their beta sites behind a firewall so that they are only accessible to authorized beta testers until they are ready for a public unveiling. Don't blame the Democrats if you decided to do your beta testing in public, Steele. A boneheaded decision like that deserves all the derision heaped on the results that it receives.

Conspiracy theorist that I am:
First Michelle Bachmann is definitely ghetto!!!
She's got street cred.
But then there is the serious possiblity that, do the Repubs have Steele, NOT to show "We got a negro, too!", i.e, that there are negroes that like the Repubs. But, instead to show "See, all the blacks really are idiots!! Even ours!"
And so Steele's buffoonery is WHAT THE REPUBS WANT. He is making their point, that only white people can run the country, each time he demonstrates what an idiot he is. Just a theory, and of course, I hope I am wrong. But I do love having him on the opposite team. Steele\Bachmann (for the Repubs) in 2012!!

I love the "Republican Accomplishments" section, and not just because of the Soviet poster art-style graphic.
Starts off with a bang in 1860. Who knew the Republicans were entirely responsible for the first transcontinental railroad?
That's right. If the Democrat Party had their way, we'd still be sending mail to the West Coast by the Pony Express. Think about that for a minute.
I'm convinced, and will be voting Republican from now on!

I just took a look, and the banner on the site now says "beta." So there you go.
And let's give them a little bit of a break. The GOP is apparently so impoverished that building their website is a volunteer effort. Under "Code for America," they issued this stirring call to action:

OK, so can some of the more politically astute subscribers fill me in?
Why does the RNC keep Steele around since he is clearly such a blockhead?
Are they waiting for a high ranking Democrat to call him stupid so they can claim that Democrats hate black people, or is it their way to hold him up as the smartest black guy they could find, thus encouraging the racist base that "those people" really can't be trusted to do anything right?
I have yet to see the advantage of either strategy.

This is MSteele's site, as at the bottom, it "states" that it is not "authorized" by any candidate or candidates committee, so now we can read all Steele, everyday.
Minus the picture, what is the only other item that pops out on the cover page: DONATE...well, at least it is blatant...don't bother to read, just donate!
