The Associated Press issued the following statement on their fact check of Sarah Palin's book, "Going Rogue: An American Life." Here's the full text:

"Reports that The Associated Press is directing an ongoing 11-member fact-checking squad to pore over former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's book are inaccurate. The AP's so-labeled Fact Check of the book "Going Rogue" moved on the wire Nov. 13 -- nearly a week ago -- after the AP was able to purchase a copy days ahead of its scheduled on-sale date.

One byline appeared on AP's Fact Check. Acting with AP's trademark speed, other staffers with knowledge of specific areas covered in the book (Alaska governorship and the '08 campaign, for example) contributed in varying degrees to help prepare the Fact Check, and -- in keeping with AP style -- they were listed at the end of the Friday piece. Some of the 11 were minimally involved."

To the nut jobs on the right, this is going to sound/read like the adults talking to Charlie Brown: Wah wa-wah-wah wah! They're fact-challenged Americans. Sarah has already established reality for them. I have no doubt that the AP's account is accurate; it is what most of us assumed all along. But to the Palins and Prejeans (and all the other eternal victims out there), the facts don't have to jibe with what they think...

There's nothing more embarrassing than the press uncovering your bullshit stories. Remember when that first lady recounted the touching tale of sitting on her father's knee watching Carl Lewis when in actuality, she must have been at least 20 years old at that time? Who was that first ladies name? I don't remember.

oh crap, I really fudged that one up. WHAT WAS THAT FIRST LADY'S NAME? Dammit. Serves me right for trying to be provocative. Anyways, it was Michelle Obama. I need some rest.

Well of course the AP had 11 people fact checking the book. But to find all the lies, they probably needed more like 1100 people.

And how many people did AP use to fact check Al Gore's book, Joe Biden's book, or President Obama's book?

Hmmm?

So did you sign up on a left of center website just to ask that question? Somehow that just doesn't seem sincere.
