Last week, Fox News anchor Shep Smith apologized for a "lack of balance" after airing an interview with Chris Christie, but had no interview with his opponent, Gov. Jon Corzine.
"If I had control, it wouldn't have happened," Smith said after the reporter explained, somewhat defensively, that Corzine hadn't responded to requests for an interview.
Today, Smith's colleague Neil Cavuto took a shot at the remark -- albeit without naming names.
Video after the jump.
Cavuto took the opportunity, after airing a short interview with Corzine shot outside a rally, to "make something very very clear."
"The notion that the better part of 'fair and balanced' is not to include any interview with any candidate because his opponent refuses to come on is simply something we don't subscribe to here," Cavuto said. "The alternative for you would be no guests."
"We invite all parties, all candidates all the time. Sometimes, in fact most times, we make real pests of ourselves. But we always try because you deserve that, always," he added.
Fox News has not responded to several requests for comment about its definition of balance.

I beg you pardon, Smith is the only only personality on fox that has sense to come in out of the rain---of the organized terrorist on Fox...
Read 'Shock Doctrine' --one needs to be informed--if you are to defend your position--however intenable!
As to color..it would be 'green with envy' not as a environmental statement!

btw, i love how in the bizzaro ayn randian conservative world, somebody being out to get "your money" is thusly and automagically virtuous via the free market and invisible hands. because heaven knows FOX has too much respect for the intelligence of their audience to attempt any shenanigans...
i suppose the only thing more virtuous than a "journalist" out to get "your money" is a TV Evangelist, who wants to take you to jesus, and then take your money.

He's partly right.
Fox is an investment gambit that if they preach ignorance and intolerance to stupid and uneducated people, often of a rural bent, they'll get attention and make money.
Andy they do. But that is what it is, a calculated investment gambit relying on simpletons: not fair, not balanced, not news.

Exactly right.
And the "genius" was not in the ailes but the calculation that the network could be blatantly racist and appeal to those bigots you describe without anyone calling them on it.
In fact its rather fool proof for what media entity while aware, would risk the alienation of pointing that out?
Yet the joke is on them while they struggle to appeal to the folks that are ....left.

Good comments! Funny thing is that with his crackpot umbrage, Camuto or Cabluto whatever he's called, acknowledged this!
It isn't news! It's making money! Only thing he left out was specifically how!

"Smear with Malice" news from the Vixen network! Ya'now, we do need to fix the immigration policy of the US. I don't mind workers crossing the border to find Work. But allowing an old, puffed up Australian who talks funny to enter the US legally in order to play on the fears of our citizens, to bankroll a grievous political agenda and at the same time make billions from those excesses - it is just plain wrong. It needs fixing!

Why is the apology hating station always apologizing? It's like a bad joke, if you have to keep explaining, you've already missed the point. Begging people to not focus on the obvious fact that they are as partisan as it gets & the ultimate hypocrits is pretty pathetic. Fox is reaping what they've sewn & the reward is being exposed as mean spirited & a joke when it comes to news.
