Rep. Louie Gohmert appeared on Fox News earlier today to discuss the House bill he's proposed that aims to prevent Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other detainees from being tried in New York City.

Gohmert first claimed that "millions of New Yorkers who will be put at risk" by such a trial, where "you've got weak links all along the way. From the jailers, the bailiffs, the clerks, the jurors, the judge, everybody in the courtroom, their families. You've got subways, tunnels, bridges, all subject to terrorism."

Gohmert continued: "Unless they're trying to create a new jobs bill by allowing terrorism back in New York, then this is insane." He added, "and even that would be insane."

He then discusses the implications of such trials for the troops. With terror suspects treated as criminals rather than going before military trials, Gohmert seemed to be suggesting that U.S. troops would become more like cops, who he envisions will have to take their "forensic wagons" into battle "and take DNA and fingerprints."

"We should not have soldiers in harms way having to gather forensic evidence, and maintaining chain of custody, and using latex gloves out in the field, that is insane," Gohmert said. "Unless it's for getting kudos at some international cocktail party or something, this is not good."

Late Update: Here's the video:

And here's a look back at Gohmert's rambling discussion of sexual orientation, in which he talks about being "oriented toward animals, bestiality" ... "oriented toward corpses, toward children."

I apologize on behalf of the mostly sane Texans that you never hear from for this dork. I gather that he is from East Texas which has strong similarities to Alabama (10 million people, 10 last names).

For those who are unfortunately condemned through no fault of your own to live in districts represented by people like this, I suggest the following. Go through the grocery store coupons in the Sunday paper and cut out the Depends coupons and mail them to your representative along with a message telling him that you are glad to help him with his problem of incontinence whenever he hears the word "terrorist."

As a Texan I feel that the succession of Texas is in the best interest of the U.S. and would like to formally and preemptively renounce my citizenship to the republic of Texas and request a chance to retain my citizenship of the U.S. and that of my family and hope to immigrate there soon ASAP if not I will go to my fall back The Nation of Mexico

As a former Texan (just escaped in July), I would like to add my apologies to Texas Aggie's. There are a few sane people left in the state, we promise...

Minnesota has Michele Bachmann. Michigan has Pete Hoekstra. Iowa has Steve King. North Carolina has Virginia Foxx. Arizona has John Shadegg. OK, Texas does seem to have more than it's share of paranoid delusional politicians, but doesn't Houston have an open lesbian running in the mayoral runoff? Didn't Dallas elect a DA who went hard after freeing wrongly convicted people? Not all is lost. Keep plugging away.

Beware Muslims who use Bubba-like names or personae to appear American.
The below users are good examples.
Rep. Gohmert has excellent support from his constituents. Despite the false comments from those Muslims below, the people in East Texas believe
and support him. There is a concerted thrust from Muslims to co-opt these user comments.
Muslims are murderers (of children, non-believers, Jews, women, etc., etc. they behead innocents everday.)
When you attack good Americans like Rep. Gohmert,
you're liable to meet Mr.Smith and Wesson.

Yeah that don't sound nuts at all because Christians and Americans have never killed innocent people for any reason except being the wrong race the wrong government the wrong religion etc that type of mentality is exactly the type that wahabbiest extremist use to justify jihad and its funny but it is like the christen evangelical faction that killed Dr.Tiller murder because my beliefs justify doing so i.e. abortion is murder and any supporters of abortion rights are by association murderers so don't be so quick to run your mouth just because you can type Mr.. Smith and Weston by the way ironic that we are innocent of any wrong doing yet we developed the most powerful killing machines in history why would a nation of peace loving Christians do that
and im a mexican-american raised catholic
