In an appearance on Fred Thompson's radio show, Lou Dobbs responded to question about whether he'd consider a run for President by saying, "yes is the answer."
Dobbs said that over the next few weeks he's going to discuss his options with "some folks who want me to listen to them," but that "right now I'm fortunate to have a number of just wonderful options. I do know this, that I'm gonna have the best advice, I may make a terrible decision, but I'm gonna have great advice. And one think makes me feel pretty confident about it all is that my wife's going to be making part of that decision."
Dobbs recently left his show at CNN, amid some speculation that his frequent anti-immigration remarks had played a role in his departure.

Don't hope he dies off. Let's not go there. Leave that for the psalm 109:8 loonies.

I saw this in The Daily Kos this evening, thought that you might find it interesting. The wing nuts can't even get this right!!!
We’ve seen a lot of comment about a new twist on the right, a whole campaign (t- shirts, bumper stickers, e-mails and more) all built on the biblical passage in Psalms 109 which says in part:
May his days be few;
may another seize his position.
May his children be orphans,
and his wife a widow.
Many have pointed out that this campaign seems to imply the urgent need to eliminate President Barack Obama at the earliest opportunity by any means necessary, (you can figure out the rest).
But what is Psalms Chapter 109 really about?
* NewDealer's diary :: ::
*
In Psalms Chapter 109, King David, who is one of the revered heroes of the Old Testament is lamenting. He says:
For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me,
speaking against me with lying tongues.
They beset me with words of hate,
and attack me without cause.
In return for my love they accuse me,
even while I make prayer for them.
So they reward me evil for good,
and hatred for my love.
The wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me. He goes on:
They say, Appoint a wicked man against him;
let an accuser stand on his right.
When he is tried, let him be found guilty;
let his prayer be counted as sin.
May his days be few;
may another seize his position.
May his children be orphans,
and his wife a widow.
May his children wander about and beg;
may they be driven out of the ruins they inhabit.
May the creditor seize all that he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil.
And then King David says,
Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to your steadfast love.
Let them know that this is your hand;
you, O Lord, have done it.
Let them curse, but you will bless.
Let my assailants be put to shame; may your servant be glad.
May my accusers be clothed with dishonour;
may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a mantle.
With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord;
I will praise him in the midst of the throng.
For he stands at the right hand of the needy,
to save them from those who would condemn them to death.
For those would quote the Bible for their justifications, wouldn’t you think they can do a bit better than this?
The rich irony is that those who have chosen this Bible verse as a slogan clearly have no idea of the context and meaning of that which they quote.
The Bible clearly says the exact opposite of that which they imply.

welcome to the world of proof texting - not taking into account what the surrounding passages say, mean, imply - but taking a sliver of words and making them say whatever you want them to.
It's a beautiful thing ;( Not!!

Two years ago I was asked to speculate as to the prospects for a Dobbs candidacy - that's when he went all anti-Mehican, to create a platform.
Dobbs for president - he's that deluded.

Don't misunderestimate Dobbs. He's married to the conservative POV, not the GOP. He may be that independent that conservative independents are looking for as an alternative the teabagger crazies. If Dobbs plays his cards right, he may have a legitimate chance. For one thing, he's nationally known. For another, he's fairly intelligent. If he tones down the anti-immigrant rhetoric and plays up his financial accumen, he may present Obama and the flagging GOP with a stiff run.

You can't be serious. Dobbs playing down the anti-immigration card? Even if he had it in him to 'play it down', which I somehow doubt, whoever he runs against will NEVER allow him to 'play it down' given the several tons of oppo material they have in any theoretical warchest against his candidacy.

You are so dreaming! The first thing he should have done is lost about 90 pounds -- how'd he miss that; it;s politics 101!! It's one thing to ask questions and spew venom unchallenged; it's another to be a candidate. He has no background in it, no experience. He'll enter it as a respected CNN type and leave it as a laughingstock.

Do these people not understand youtube? Dobbs has night after night after night of Jeremiah-Wright-type screeds against all sorts of things that make moderates uncomfortable. Only it's not his pastor saying them. It's him. He wouldn't even make it out of the paddock. I think it's funny he said it on Fred Thompson's radio show. I wonder if they both missed the irony.

He will combine fear of immigration with that of unemployment and run on Dobbs for Jobs. It worked rather well in parts of Europe in the nineteen thirties.

Doesn't set me off at all, jjd! I fully, one hundred percent support Dobbs running for the Republican nomination. I hope he receives massive amounts of campaign contributions. I hope vast numbers of Republicans give every dime they've got to get him elected.
Because with Dobbs as a candidate, the Republicans will be even further away from the White House, and they'll be wicked poorer. So... why should I have a problem with that?
