During a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, President Obama addressed his upcoming announcement on his Afghanistan troops decision.

"I will be making an announcement to the American people about how we intend to move forward," the president said. "I will be doing so shortly."

After eight years, some of those years in which we did not have either the resources or the strategy, to get the job done, it is my intention to finish the job.

"I feel very confident that when the American people hear a clear rationale for what we're doing there and how we intend to achieve our goals, that they will be supportive," Obama said.

Obama continued:

The whole world has a core security interest in making sure the type of extremism and violence...is tackled...in a serious way.

"We have to do it," Obama said -- but "as part of the broader international community."

Arianna Huffington isn't going to like this. But what does she like these days from Obama?

First off I think we need a gigantic embassy there, something really big to show that we really mean business. There are a lot of opportunities for contractors to work over there, providing rebuilding and security services. Our banking system could really help in a big way, repackaging debt to encourage growth. Christian ministries have a tremendous opportunity in Afghanistan to teach family values and help define the spiritual side of the Global War on Drugs, Terror, and Islam. Responsible gun ownership is an area where they can use some guidance, so the NRA could help them start their own national gun rights organization. And of course, it goes without saying we need 200,000 more troops there to protect our interests and to catch Obama. Once the Afghans see our American way of life close up, we will have won over their hearts and minds.

But of course no one here is going to listen to reason, and the craven islamo-liberal fascio-socialist pretender from Africa is getting what he wants as long as our troops are dying.
