In her hour-long interview with Sean Hannity last night, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin finally answered that infamous question Katie Couric asked more than a year ago: What newspapers do you read?
As she told Hannity, she reads Newsmax, the Wall Street Journal, her hometown Wasilla paper the Frontiersman, and "everything online."
On a media blitzkrieg to promote her memoir, Palin has been asked the question by several outlets. She didn't answer Oprah, but she did answer RedState.com, saying she's read books by laissez-faire economist Thomas Sowell and Liberal Fascism by National Review editor Jonah Goldberg.
Video after the jump.
Newsmax is certainly pleased with the shout-out: The site's top story today is "Sarah Palin Tells Sean Hannity: I Read Newsmax."

In other words, Palin only reads what confirms her narrow views. Her intellectual depth is indicated by her choice of the shallowest pundit of the day, Jonah Goldberg.

During the campaign, she was asked about the Couric interview on Fox, and she explained how she was pissed and didn't want to answer. She then said her fav was "The Economist".
Haven't heard too many references to it from her.

Evidently her advisors decided that The Economist is too left-wing and "French" -- at least for the putative Republican primary electorate. It may make a reappearance in the event that they are once again trying to play up her "foreign policy credentials."

Hate to say it, but what does she mean by the word "read".

Does anyone else find this woman to be the total embarrassment that I do? She apparently represents the Republican party; how wonderful for the Democrats! I think she is the female Geraldo Rivera and hopefully will soon secure a job on Faux News and sane people across the country will be able to ignore her once again.

ruhappynow: Let's be fair, Geraldo Rivera is now the voice of reason over at FoxNews. (DailyShow's Samantha Bee pointed this out the other night...)

No surprise that she keeps herself in a W-esque bubble, where everything she reads (or has summarized for her by her minions) simply echoes back the inane views that she already holds.

I just opened the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to see a full-page ad from Newsmax offering "Going Rogue" for $4.97. The price includes a four-month trial subscription to Newsmax magazine and its "special report" on Sarah Palin and "the newer feminism."

Are you sure she's not read to? I highly doubt she's intelligent enough to read.

If Sarah actually read the Wall Street Journal, she would at least know more words, but she doesn't. Newsmax bullets and Wasilla garage sale section are likely the areas that get most of her attention. Mind you, I'm all for garage sales. I just don't think they'll help her understand America's domestic and international affairs.

Well, I recently read that she claims to have read "Animal Farm"... HA! That and one other classic, but am guessing someone told her to say so...
She's got a lot more reading to do... may I suggest National Geographic? Its got lots of pictures... maps too...
Sheesh!

Do you suppose there's a connection between Sarah's endorsement of Newsmax and Newsmax's "get Sarah's book for $4.97" offer?
Nah. Prob'ly just a coincidence.
