Former Alaska Governor, best-selling author and NY-23 meddler Sarah Palin is now wading into the New Jersey gubernatorial race. In a note posted on Facebook earlier today, Palin took issue with Independent candidate Chris Daggett's assertion that she tried to pressure him to drop out of the New Jersey race -- and then implied that he should.
Despite what candidate Chris Daggett is claiming, I have never contacted him or his campaign. I have never asked him to drop out of the NJ Governor's race. Now, if a politician is going to play loose with facts like this, the electorate needs to know it.So, to the good people of New Jersey, please know that Daggett's claims are false. I've never even suggested he should drop out of the race. But, come to think of it...
- Sarah Palin
Earlier this morning, Daggett fielded a question on MSNBC about whether he was comfortable with the possibility of playing the role of spoiler in the race -- and maybe even sealing a win for Democrat Jon Corzine.
"I don't worry one way or another about it," Daggett said.
And I have had Republicans come in from Rudy Giuliani to Sarah Palin to Christy Mihos, who's running for governor in Massachusetts -- people in the New Jersey Republican Party. And to be honest with you, they don't understand. I'm not running as a disgruntled Republican. I'm running as a person who believes that neither party has been willing or able to step up to the issues that face the state and make the tough decisions.
Palin already seems to have played a role in the NY-23 congressional race -- where moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava dropped out after Palin and other prominent Republicans backed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. But Daggett didn't sound like he was about to drop out based on pressure from big-name Republicans.

Wow the blog Palin claims that Daggett is lying about her isn't even affiliated with Chris Daggett.
Here is the post she is referring to:
http://njelection.wordpress.com/2009/10/30/daggett-hurts-corzine-and-helps-christie/
And clearly his comments on MSNBC don't accuse her of that either.

Actually, the people who believe Palin probably do have half a brain - but not one percentage point more :)

Hey, c'mon, if there's anything Sarah Palin knows, it's quitting. She's an expert. She just wants Daggett to follow her own example, only earlier: quit BEFORE you're elected, instead of halfway through your term.

Palin acts like she's still in high school. Seriously, why doesn't she grow up. Ya know, people don't like outsiders butting into their local politics. This will bite her in the ass.

Here is what Daggett said on MSNBC
"And I have had Republicans come in from Rudy Giuliani to Sarah Palin to Christy Mihos, who’s running for governor in Massachusetts — people in the New Jersey Republican Party. And to be honest with you, they don’t understand. I’m not running as a disgruntled Republican. I’m running as a person who believes that neither party has been willing or able to step up to the issues that face the state and make the tough decisions."

Palin assumes that quitting comes as easily to others as it does to her.

Why does everyone attribute every facebook statement to Palin? It's not Palin. It may be coming from where she is, but it's not her writing the responses. It's clearly ghost written.

Did Christy Mihos really weigh in against Daggett? The same Christy Mihos that lost the democratic primary for governor in 2006, and then proceeded to run as an independent anyway? Talk about hypocritical....

my mistake just now... Mihos didn't run in the dem primary, as it looks like my memory failed me, and I confused him with a hallucination I must have had. But he definitely ran as an independent since he knew he couldn't win any primary, and is still a hypocrite.

Palin was right. See, for example, ABC news.
This is the sort of slip-up inexperienced campaigners often make. It shouldn't really change people's opinion of him, but it has to hurt him at least a little.
