As Politico first pointed out, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said at a Midland County Republican Women's group luncheon yesterday that the Obama administration is "hell-bent" on moving America towards socialism.

"This is an administration hell-bent on taking America towards a socialist country," Perry said.

This is an administration that I see punishing this state. I say it's time for us to stand up. I say it's time to make tea parties twice as big as what they were.

"Let me tell you, it works,' Perry said of the tea parties. "If you all think those tea parties didn't work, then let me tell you something -- when they all came home in August, and were going to different places and town hall meetings, they got an earful. Then they went back to Washington, D.C. and the Senate voted that public option down in Senate committee with a majority of Democrats in the Senate."

"You better believe they're listening."

Well, seeing as how she was fond of skewering the idiocy that Taxas politics can exhibit, this calls for a Molly Ivins-ism: "if his I.Q. dropped any lower, we'd have to water him twice a day".

"He's so dumb he couldn't poor piss out of his boot if the instructions were written on the heel."

Ivin's was the first to tag Perry with the "Goodhair" moniker, as well as tagging another notable murderer with both "Dubya" and "Shrub." God I miss her.

As Good-Hair and KBH do battle to swing as far right as they can, is it possible they could go so far off the deep end that the 44% who voted for Obama are enough to win the Gov's mansion for a D (esp. a moderate, preferably Hispanic D)? After all, Perry is pretty unpopular outside of the base, but could succeed in beating KBH in the primary by being a nutjob. Doing so, though, might just scare the non-crazy Rs into staying home. Or is it just a foregone conclusion that whoever wins the primary will win the general?

And why aren't the Democrats organizing their far larger base in demonstrations? You know, that 66-70% that want health care reform with a public option. By letting a small minority of nut jobs steal the message, they're allowing them to frame the debate. That's why we have the Stupak Amendmant, the "trigger" option, and the like. If the Dems stepped up to organize their supporters the way the Repub's do you would see a different rhetoric altogether. I hope they don't let the day slip away.

If only he were telling the truth. That would be change I could believe in. You can read 'that' in two ways - both are correct.
