And Fox News wonders why the White House has been critical of them lately...

This morning, Chris Wallace had conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh as the headline guest on Fox News Sunday. Wallace did ask some adversarial questions -- though also told Limbaugh, "I think you're a great broadcaster." And Limbaugh's very presence on the news show seemed to confer a sense of legitimacy that a lot of people might take issue with. Unsurprisingly, Limbaugh said a number of out-there, inflammatory things. Among the, um, highlights:

-On the economy: "I believe that the economy is under siege," Limbaugh said, adding that "anybody with any economic literary would not do one thing that this administration's done."

-On President Obama: "I think he's got an out-of-this-world ego"; "He's immature, inexperienced, in over his head"; and he "actively sought the defeat of the U.S. military." Oh, and "we've never seen this kind of radical leadership at such a high level of power in the country."

-On Obama's visit to Dover to honor fallen soldiers returning home: "It was a photo op precisely because he's having big-time trouble on this whole Afghanistan dithering situation."

-On health care reform: "This is not about insuring the uninsured. This is not about health care. This is about stealing one-sixth of the U.S. private sector." That, Limbaugh said, is "the easiest, fastest way for them to be able to regulate every aspect of human behavior."

-On Vice President Joe Biden: "Pompous, a bit of a windbag and wrong" -- and "a walking comedy of errors."

-On Sarah Palin: "I do have profound respect for Sarah Palin."

White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod was asked about some of Limbaugh's comments during his appearance today on Face the Nation. Mostly, Axelrod just shrugged Limbaugh off.

"It's a surreal day when you're getting lectures on humility from Rush Limbaugh," Axelrod said.

He is an entertainer. The president has to run the country.

On the Dover criticism, Axelrod said, "The president of the United States went to Dover to represent the American people and to pay his respect to the families who had made so much of a sacrifice and the brave service people who made the ultimate sacrifice."

"I think most Americans appreciate that," Axelrod said.

On Sarah Palin: "I do have profound respect for Sarah Palin."

Also he said she's ready to be the president, the H'ween weekend continues.

The reason Palin can be President is the same reason George W. could be President.
When Republicans are President - essentially the military-industrial complex is in charge. Capitalism is a front for empire. Profits rule in place of principles. And Christianity plays the same role as did all state religions in Rome. In fact - Christianity eventually became the Roman empire's state religion.

Democracy is on the ropes. Calling Fox News journalism represents the main stream media taking their seat at the table of empire.

He's unelectable. And an assclown. Makes you wonder how a news network would have him on.... Oh it's Fox, never mind.

Here we go with Fox being fair and balanced again.

So Chris Wallace (who is supposed to be a news reporter) invited Rush Limbaugh for an interview and claims he is a great broadcaster.

Unless he invites Keith Olbermann next and make complimentary comments about him, why should anyone believe that the news department of foxNews is unbiased and neutral?

Fox News is fair and balanced because....they say they are!

That's as much evidence for anything else they or the big cheese is quoted saying.

Health care is about stealing the economy because....they say it is!

No educated person would do anything like the administration has done to the economy because....they say so!

Ad infinitum.

Who needs evidence when you can just make things up? When Rupert buys it, he buys the rights to its reality. You got a problem with free speech?

I don't like Rush Limbaugh. I don't like Sarah Palin.
That said: I think that reasons that Limbaugh (and others) admire Palin are worth paying attention to. Just the other day, a left-leaning family member was asking me...why do people like Sarah Palin..why are we still talking about her.... not as a rhetorical question, but because she (unlike many on the left) was honestly interested in understanding where other people (many in our own family) were coming from.

John Tantillo has a marketing and branding blog and has done quite a few posts about personal political brands, among them, the Sarah Palin brand. It's obvious from his posts that Tantillo leans left. Regardless of where you stand politically though (or especially if you're on the left and also grasping to understand what anyone could possibly see in Palin..) - I think it's helpful to look at the question of "Why Palin" through a "branding lens," as Tantillo says.

There's an old post from September 2008, just after her convention speech, where he discusses
Palin's rapid definition of her brand, and her use of pull marketing.

And a slightly more recent post in which he attempts to defend/explain Palin's resignation from office: "With this decision and this announcement, Sarah Palin has been absolutely true to herself. Long-term, this will translate to a success that will leave most political pundits in the dust."

To defeat the opposition (or to reach a broader target market, in branding terms), you first have to understand them and what they want.

Chris Wallace is not the only show to give this swine a microphone. Meet the Press and Charlie Rose have also done so.
From FAIR:

Limbaugh's chronic inaccuracy, and his lack of accountability, wouldn't be such a problem if Limbaugh were just a cranky entertainer, like Howard Stern. But Limbaugh is taken seriously by "serious" media--in addition to Nightline, he's been an "expert" on such chat shows as Charlie Rose and Meet the Press. The New York Times (10/15/92) and Newsweek (1/24/94) have published his writings. A U.S. News & World Report piece (8/16/93) by Steven Roberts declared, "The information Mr. Limbaugh provides is generally accurate."

I have just looked on both Charlie Rose's and Meet The Press' archive websites and neither seems to have had Rush on their guest list.
Do you have another source for these claims. (Or any source for that matter since your link doesn't lead anywhere.)

And while we are at it, do you have any source more recent than 1994! A lot of water flowed under bridges since then.
