A debate between former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush was canceled, according to the New York Post, after the event's promoter advertised it as "uncensored, unedited and unpredictable."
"This event ... was supposed to be a discussion between the two former presidents, and has been canceled because it was not being billed as such by an overeager promoter," said Matt McKenna, a spokesman for Clinton.
It was never supposed to be a "debate," McKenna said, which is how the promoter described it. The event was to be held at Radio City Music Hall in February -- with tickets going for as much as $1,250 a pop.

Somebody must have told Shrub that Clinton was going to get to say mean things. Either that, or they told him he wouldn't get to wear the radio system he used in all the debates.

What???? Well, I am sure it is because Bush would have been soundly thumped... so he backed out!

Actually, I also heard rumors that security was going to be a huge and expensive concern.

My thoughts exactly. Clinton is at least doing a little good with his wealthy, if patronizing, buddies. But what has GWB done for humanity since he left office? Oh, that's right - he left office.

I'm betting on the fact that they simply weren't offered enough money. Neither one seems to have any misgivings about selling their time to the highest bidder. Sorry but its true.

Whatever the real reason is, it's not the reason that was given. But, whatever. It's not like Clinton was going to crush Bush like an aluminum can, it would have been a tepid sort of thing. They're ex-presidents, it's a club.

but if people were *expecting* there to be some can-crushing, likely bush bugged out in fear, and the organizers didn't want it to get bad reviews for being insubstantial (which it most certainly was intended to be).

I think W' views Big Dog as a reliable partner. As I said in the first thread on this subject, Clinton should stop propping up this entire family (Poppy included). Maybe Bill is finally down with that, but I doubt it?
Bush should be happy building that monument to himself at SMU. A place where he'll be the hero in his own story.
His days in public should be over. Not even his own party cares what he says about anything.

Totally unsurprising.
When I first saw the headlines about the 'debate' I thought it was a dream come true. Like a headline from Family Guy.

Just got my ticket for their 'show' at Universal in LA on Feb 22nd.
Bush gets the same bulge-and-earpiece he used in the debates, while Clinton has to speak with one cerebral lobe tied behind his back.
Still won't be even.
