I saw this and it was insulting, to say the least. I fail to understand how it's okay for conservatives to keep pushing, squeezing and amputating what was a decent bill but when liberals and true moderates say enough is enough, we're not really dems. At the age of 60, I believe I know I'm a dem by now, Mr. Matthews. Contrary to whay you say, I even vote at every opportunity. Liberal is not a synonym for wuss and I'm fed up with being slammed.
He wasn't slamming liberals. He was slamming the net roots complainers, the ones that I like to call armchair activists. I have a saying that I've been trying abide by and live up to -
Being a citizen in the 21st century will require more than just voting and paying taxes...
This man is speaking to his colleagues, Keith, Rachel and Ed - thats my take. Rep. Weiner took him down a bit in a segment before this. Chris is a leaf in the wind and has no center to his politics. He's mad at the left because we know he's a right leaning opportunist. I get the feeling he just loves the sound of his own voice and that's why he constantly interrupts peoples and never lets people finnish their thoughts.
This entire show was a douchefest. He was over the top, totally rabid. Every time ANYONE made a point that he couldn't accept he became obviously flummoxed.
You should post the Anthony Weiner segment, he flayed him with one sentence as a parting shot. It was priceless.
The shot was concerning the statement “Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” Its from Voltaire I believe. Instead of trying for unattainable perfection and getting nothing - take the good and at least get something.
What was funny in the show is that Matthers was fascinated with the statement - it was used several times....and at the end he tried to repeat it back to the Senator. But Matthews tongue was tied. He tried several times to say it but could not. Finally he got it (somewhat right) giving the senator time to recall the response to it which was something like.....well you ain't perfect and you ain't good. The senator meant it as a double entendre - the senate health care bill AND Matthews. And even though Matthews tongue was not working - the part of his brain that detects when someone is calling him an asshole was functioning at 100% capacity....for obvious reasons.
I worked my ass off from my wheelchair and emptied my wallet to help these "Democrats" get elected.
I didn't sit on some seat in a studio spitting my words out and not allowing other people to answer my questions.
We believed in a person who wanted to give us Progressives and the rest of the country a good health care plan, not something that got written by the Insurance Industry!
We believed that "our time had come" to get our way by having control of the White House, The Senate and The House.
So don't go telling me that I should stop bitching from the back seat because we don't do anything to get these politicians elected!!
There's mote to it than just getting people elected. You have to participate in the governance process. Sounds like you have, but if you haven't, don't just bit@h about it.
Being a citizen in the 21st century will require more than just voting and paying taxes...
As part of my ongoing hair-retainment/brain-cell-preservation program, I can't watch Tweety. But there was always one thing I found perversely fascinating about him. So ... approximately how much (measured in liquid volume) spittle did he launch in those 39 seconds?
Chris demonstrates the same dismissal of the dem majority that seems to have been the problem all along.
We get dismissed as 'activists' or 'progressives. The president and WH seem to be making the same mistake.
CM reminds me of Archie Bunker and Pat Buchanan. He would prefer we sat in the 'backseat' and kept our mouths shut. He's pissed off at people for participating... okay at people he considers 'liberal' for participating.
settling for sub optimal solutions should be considered un-american. chris matthews must have been lobbied and lobbied well considering the insults he's been hurling against liberals recently.
Alright, I'm insulted! Bitching? BITCHING?!? Personally, I've at least pulled of a caterwaul or two and several good ruckuses - and there are folks around who make me look sedate. Who does this guy think he is?
What does the netroots have to do? Kill someone?!? Hmph ... bitching indeed.

Anthony Weiner is not a senator he's the rep from New York's 9th congressional district. That's what I get for trying to make fun of someone.

Matthews is a self-opinionated opportunist. He would fit right in the Obama administration.

All that "bitching" got Barack Obama the nomination and then the Presidency.
It took back the house and Senate in 2006 and strengthened Democratic majorities in 2008. Governors. Legislature and other down ticket offices.
More oatmeal from the galactically wrong.
