Former Congressman (and C Streeter) Chip Pickering is reportedly under police investigation for his involvement in a brawl with a rival youth league soccer coach.
Apparently, police were called to Liberty Park in Madison, Mississippi, after Pickering and coach Christopher Hester came to blows when Pickering confronted Hester over the treatment of Pickering's son.
The kicker? Hester claims he was wearing a neck brace at the time of the incident.
You may remember Pickering from his days as a resident of C Street, a D.C. facility that has recently gotten some attention for accommodating beleaguered Christian lawmakers like Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) and Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC).
For his part, Pickering contributed to the good C Street name when his wife Leisha Pickering filed a lawsuit against his alleged mistress, Elizabeth Creekmore-Byrd, for alienation of affection. The lawsuit alleged that Pickering engaged in "wrongful conduct" with Creekmore-Byrd before and during his stay at the C Street house.
Now, it seems, Pickering has a new scandal to contend with, as he and Hester filed complaints against one another alleging assault. Each could face misdemeanor simple assault charges.

In the world of The Family, God told him to attack the soccer coach. God wanted Pickering's kid to win, doncha know, just like God wanted Pickering to canoodle with a woman not his wife. There's a Bible story somewhere that justifies what the C-Street guys do.
These Family Guys are special. Rules for the rest of us don't apply to them. God wants them to have power.
And Bart Stupak is also one of them.

The soccer coach was clearly a Muslim hijacker on a dry run.

Ridiculous, although of course it remains to be seen whether the coach was a completely innocent victim here. I've been around enough youth sports to know that coaches and parents alike can behave in incredibly reprehensible ways (eg, coaches telling their players to take another player out or otherwise hurt him/her).

I've been coaching kid's soccer for a number of years, and I've seen some pretty bizzare and disturbing stuff on occasion. No one's ever punched, manhandled or threatened me though (yet). Maybe its because I'm also the League Commissioner. And of course I've never advised a kid to "take someone out" either.
(note to self: continue not doing that)
This stuff happens, but it's a little unusual for the peretrator to be some kind of public figure. Usually you find that its some fringe-type person. And attacking someone in a neck brace seems a little cowardly.

I dunno, I know of altercations that have occurred between supposedly "respectable" people who simply take kids' sports waaaaay too seriously...really, a psychologist would have a field day trying to understand the hangups and inadequacies that lead parents (mostly dads) to behave like lunatics where youth sports are concerned. All I'm saying is that both parties in this fight could be equally to blame.
And I will echo another poster in saying that if the coach somehow authorized or encouraged physical harm to the former Congressman's kid, I can understand going off on him...it's not something I would do (and unfortunately, I have been faced with that very same situation involving one of my kids...I just let it go because the players refused to go along with the instructions to "take her out"...and this was in a REC-LEVEL game!) But you know, if someone HAD deliberately hurt my child per adult instructions, I guess I don't know what I would have done.

Coach - Kids, I want you to pray to Allah...
Chip - Please coach, I don't think that's appropriate.
Coach - Then I want you to practice making your suicide bombs.
Chip - Coach, can't we talk this over?
Coach - Then I will to fill your mind with hatred for America.
Chip - Come on, son, let's go.
Coach grabs Pickering by the hand and places Pickering's hand on his throat.
Coach - Are you trying to choke me?
Chip - No! I believe in Jesus. I'm a peaceful man.
(tries to remove his hands. The Coach falls to the ground.)
Coach - Help! I've been assaulted!

that's not what the story says. it says he went off on the "rival coach" (presumably the guy coaching the team playing his son) "over the treatment of Pickering's son." so like i suggest below, it is within the realm of possibility that the "rival coach" was encouraging or turning a blind eye to dirty, potentially injurious conduct by his players. that deserves at least a discussion between coaches. and as a father, if i saw it resulting in cheap shots on and injuries for my 6 year old son, i might very well react in a similar way. it's not right, but it's understandable to me.
but we don't know WHAT happened, beyond the skeletal details in this entry -- quite contrary to what you say, the facts (at least from this article) are FAR from clear. and even though the details are sketchy at best, you appear just to have invented the idea that it had to do with winning or losing.

He seems to have turned a cheek and found it sexy after he turned one to find Jesus and another when beating a guy in a brace...interesting bit of cheek turning for a guy who appears a bit dizzy.

This is stupid. Former Congressman (and C Streeter) Chip Pickering was merely reenacting a South Park episode, "The Losing Edge." It happens all the time. Republicans, whose kids are carbon copies of their numb-sculled parents, try to change the rules as the need fits. Nothing wrong with that ... especially in Mississippi.

i need more information. if the coach of the other team was instructing or encouraging players to take dirty shots at pickering's players, i can understand confronting him as a coach. further, if pickering's own son was hurt/injured by such conduct, i can understand his reaction as a father.
it doesn't make it okay, but i would understand it.

I'm generally a nice person, but if some random adult told my kid he was "pathetic" and made him cry, I'd be hard pressed not to want a piece of him. Heck, if I saw ANY adult doing that to ANY kid, my blood would boil.
Of course, I'd probably take the more conservative (lol) route of reporting the offender to the league, although that never seems to accomplish much because there are way too many guys who are living vicariously through their kids when it comes to sports--and not-so-vicariously acting like kids. I take that back, though--most kids wouldn't behave as badly as some sports parents/coaches do.
