Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) appeared on Hardball this evening, and dispensed some of his signature wit against the Republicans: Telling former Vice President Dick Cheney to "STFU," speculating that gasoline would only cost a dollar per gallon if former President George W. Bush had let Saudi Prince Abdullah "get to second base," and regretting that it's too late to impeach Cheney.

Chris Matthews asked Grayson about Cheney's recent condemnations of President Obama, for giving what Cheney called "aid and comfort to the enemy" -- which is the Constitution's definition of treason -- by putting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed on trial in civilian courts.

Grayson: I don't know. You know, on the Internet there's an acronym that's used to apply to situations like this. It's called "STFU." I don't think I can say that on the air, but I think you know what that means.

Matthews: Well, give me the first part.

Grayson: "Shut."

Matthews: Oh! I got you. Stop talking, in crude language. Well, I don't think you're gonna get him to do that.

Grayson also addressed Republican complaints about President Obama bowing when he greeted the Emperor of Japan. Grayson said how he remembered when George Bush Senior "did something really awful" to the Prime Minister of Japan at a state dinner -- to which Matthews objected that vomiting on someone is an accident, not an action done on command.

"Well what about Bush Junior?" said Grayson. "I remember Bush Junior kissing Prince Abdullah on the cheek, and then holding his hand for an extended period of time. Maybe if he'd let him get to second base, then gasoline would be a dollar a gallon."

Matthews also asked Grayson about Cheney's statement that Obama's bow to the Emperor of Japan was a display of weakness that would lead to more terrorist attacks. "It's just too bad that it's too late to impeach him," Grayson answered. "That's all I can say."

Late Update: NRCC spokesman Andy Seré released this comment: "The foul mouthed man-child from Orlando is at it again, taking to the airwaves to bring shame to struggling Central Florida families who want jobs, not nut-jobs. But speaking of bases, Alan Grayson's constituents surely find themselves wishing his parents had never gotten past first."

MY COMMENT: The fact that "Pricky Dick" Cheney has lived this long is irrefutable evidence that there is no God. He will never, ever go away. He is like that last portion of upper torso of the T-1000 cyborg in "Terminator 2" that is leaking hydraulic fluid all over the place and appears inoperative until Arnie nonchalantly walks by and the T-1000's one remaining hand suddenly grabs Schwarzenegger's ankle.

We need him in the Senate...

and Cheney gives aid and comfort to the enemy every time he opens his snarling mouth.

Considering Cheney's role in outing Valerie Plame, Cheney should be careful mentioning the words "giving aid and comfort to the enemy."

The statute of limitations on treason hasn't expired yet, and Libby's conviction is certainly a notable precedent, so if they want to shut him up, then Holder needs to grow a pair and go after him for some of the crimes he committed.

Toss Rove in the mix, and we'd see media ratings soar.

That huge guaranteed ratings boost alone should be enough to encourage the MSM to push the DOJ to put those guys on the hotseat, but Justice would be surely a nice side effect of the Cheney/Rove treason hearings.

If only Justice could weigh Her scales without the thumb of special interest influence cheating the balance.

Actually, like most things in law, this isn't quite so cut-and-dried. There seems to be at least a theoretical possibility, based in part on the fact that the Constitution speaks of disqualification from any future public office, as well as removal from existing office, as sanctions encompassed by impeachment.

Two fun quotes from typical Republicans (posted on The Hill):

"Republicans should request Obama's resignation immediately and keep after him. Republicans should raise holy hell about this commie mess in Washington and not quit! This is awful what is going on in our country. This Obama guy is a thug and his administration are no better than Nazis."

"Obama is such a pompas elitist ass that he actually believes that the American people make up their own minds."

I've offered more than once on the red blogs to organize an IQ challenge, let The Lump or Hannity or Malkin close their eyes and blindly pick dozen different names from their list of commenters and then let Josh do the same here, and then do an IQ test comparing the two groups...

Not trying to sound "elitist" here, but the sheer magnitude of wingnut ignorance is displayed unfailingly and abundantly in "there" bad grammar, spelling and sentence structure.

If you should ever doubt there was a case for ditching the defense budget and building up the education budget, just read "The Blogs" over on the right, and some of the regular blowhards even here. Clearly, we've spent way too much on warfare and not nearly enough on English lessons.

For even better proof, just read the comments in some of the red state city newspapers.

It should be downright embarrassing to any self-respecting educator who calls themselves a Republican, that so many of their party fellows have such poor command of the written word. Those uber-patriots so opposed to immigration need to study English as a second language.

Haha. You are right. The IQ challenge would indeed be telling. I am willing (or at least was willing) to consider reasons for not approving of Obama, from a conservative standpoint. But upon reading their comments and questioning many conservatives, I hear only "HES A KENYAN MUSLIM AMERICA HATER!" and "he's worse then the nazi commies" and "Wheres the brith certificet!?!" and "grab your arms and get ready for a race war to defend your lifes and america" and "thats what you get for electin a black thug."

One cannot even begin to have a meaningful discussion with people who present frantic, inchoate comments like this.

The actual image (or multiple images) is/are in numerous places, as I recall, although I'm not sure myself they show actual lip-to-lip kissing. Here's one source, which shows the approach (or pulling away?) from a kiss on the cheek.

This photo looks more like a lip-kiss than the photo in the first link, but I could just as easily interpret it as GWB going for the other cheek, and the angle of the shot making it look like a lip-to-lip encounter. If bergessn9 or someone else actually has an untouched and unambiguous photo of a genuine lip-kiss between one of our Petro-Dealers and our former Petro-Junkie Prime, hopefully they'll post that here and improve on what I've provided.

That Dems are weak-kneed, because they submit like this to others. Or maybe they are fascinated by the prospect of such an encounter and spend an inordinate amount of time thinking and commenting about it. Obama is spending America into bankruptcy? (one of the comments on the Hill)

Right. The last time any administration (Clinton's) responsibly controlled the budget and started paying down the debt we got Bush and the Republicans into office, and they took the "surplus" money and gave tax cuts to the wealthy. Then they set off into two wars they didn't pay for, putting the debt higher than any administration ever, second only to Reagan.

The Housing bubble? Ignore it, like the way Enron ripped off California utility customers. The health care crisis? Ignore it. Katrina hit New Orleans? Ignore it until the TV started showing pictures of dead bodies floating in the water in the streets, then blame the local administration for the failures of FEMA. The economy collapses and the collapse spreads world wide? Bail out Wall Street Banks from the crisis they caused, with the bail-out funded by borrowing and the taxpayer is on the hook for whatever is not repaid.

How can those Republicans talk about spending the country into bankruptcy with a straight face? They have spent the nation into bankruptcy and they have been in power and ignored the health care financing crisis that is a major part of the problem!

You still laying out that schtick about the Clinton surpluses? And paying down the debt? Please. The total federal debt has increased every single fiscal year for forty years. Every single one. There were no surpluses and no paying down the debt for any administration since 1969.

You are an idiot. Social Security surpluses score as debt when calculating total Public Debt even as they count as surpluses for the Unified Budget. Of course total Public Debt went up as Clinton started borrowing less in the form of Debt Held by the Public while piling up Social Security surpluses as being part of Intragovernmental Holdings which is the other component of that famed debt clock.

Bruce, there you go again, muddling up their comfortable confusion with some real facts. Amazing how desperately they cry "tax and spend" at every Democratic bill, then ignore their own party's "borrow and spend" addiction.

"Tax and spend" now equals lower deficits, Especially now that the cost of servicing that Republican era borrowing (interest on the debt) represents such a huge portion of our expenditure.

That portion would otherwise not even exist if our corporations and the uber-wealthy had the patriotism to pay taxes instead of fighting them every inch of the way and forcing the government to borrow from foreign nations to initiate and maintain incredibly expensive Republican pet projects, like Bush's no-bid war-for-profit in Iraq.

How about reminding Cheney and Republicans and the punditry and the American people about Cheney's thoughts on deficits?

Source: [X-ref O'Neill] Adam Entous, Reuters, on AOL News Jan 11, 2004
Cheney to Treasury: "Deficits don't matter"
Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill was told "deficits don't matter" when he warned of a looming fiscal crisis.

O'Neill, fired in a shakeup of Bush's economic team in December 2002, raised objections to a new round of tax cuts and said the president balked at his more aggressive plan to combat corporate crime after a string of accounting scandals because of opposition from "the corporate crowd," a key constituency.

O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired.

The vice president's office had no immediate comment, but John Snow, who replaced O'Neill, insisted that deficits "do matter" to the administration.

Geez, guys! I really like Darth Vader and you all get really bent outa shape about him. I was hunting with him a couple of years ago, when I shouted, "Look, Dick --- a Democrat!" Cheney swung around and fired, but in his enthusiasm to do the right thing, he popped an old buddy, instead. Give him credit, even so, for his heart was in the right place, all along.
