Rep. Peter King (R-NY) continued his quasi-defense of racial profiling today, saying on Today that "100% of the Islamic terrorists who are coming against us are Muslims," and adding that "if you were going after the Mafia, you'd go into Italian communities."

King also said that he wished President Obama had put the suspected Flight 253 terrorist before a military tribunal instead of in the criminal justice system.

King began his Today appearance by praising Obama for his remarks yesterday on the attempted bombing of Flight 253.

However, he said, "the administration has made a mistake by treating this terrorist as a common criminal, by putting him into the criminal justice system. I wish they had put him into a military tribunal so we could get as much intelligence and information out of him as we could."

When asked about using racial profiling to help bolster airline security, King repeated his earlier statement that "the fact of the matter right now is that 100% of the Islamic terrorists who are coming against us are Muslims."

He continued: "If you were going after the Mafia, you'd go into Italian communities, if you were going after the IRA, you'd go into the Irish community, Irish bars."

"We're just living in a politically correct world to say we should be screening a Scandinavian grandmother the same as we do a middle-eastern male," said King.

100% of Muslim terrorists are Muslims. Way to show off that phenomenal brainpower, Crazy Pete.

Yes..and if you focus exclusively on stopping the Mafia by profiling the hell out of Italians, you lose the resources necessary to stop the damn Yakuza or Organizatiya from taking over.

i.e., Muslims aren't the only people capable of terrorism, you xenophobic jackass.

King is correct. Al-Qaeda is an Islamic terrorist network waging war against the United States. They haven't made a secret of this fact. Does this mean that every or most Muslims are terorists or that their civil rights be violated? Of course not.

But it does mean that any responsible effort to fight them should focus on Muslims and Muslim countries. Why is this so difficult for so many people to accept?

Just because some people seem willing to sacrifice others to death and maiming injury on the alter of political correctness doesn't mean the rest of society is.

One of the advantages of being a wingnut who lives in a self-created reality is that you get to spell words however you feel like. :)

Idiot. Do you have any idea how many Muslims there are? Even if it were not illegal and immoral to profile people based on their religion, it is also stupid and ineffective. To fight terrorism, you focus on finding terrorists, not on finding people that are in some category that you've decided is a proxy for being a terrorist.

There is no magic switch. You fight terrorism the same way you fight any other form of organized crime. The careful and legal gathering of information and intelligence is what gets the job done, not freaking out and deciding to target a billion and a half people from dozens of countries so that most of the effort goes into investigating people who are not terrorists.

I wonder? Do you think King was born an idiot or is it something he has acquired through years of diligent practice?

It's that large pile of shit on top of his head that has caused a huge subdermal hematoma on his brain.

Anyone who has their head up their ass 23 hours a day, combined with a hypertensive sphincter ani externus, is not only going to end up with a pile of shit on their head, they're also going to suffer cerebral hypoxia. This, I think, explains King and many others.

I hope for Rep. King's sake that all of his constituents are WASP-ish. Otherwise, this remark will come back to haunt him next year.

Investigating the Mafia nowadays would be a matter of looking into law firms and brokerage houses, not "Italian neighborhoods".
I guess Rep. King thinks the "Mafia" is like Robert DeNiro wearing a cloth cap and driving a Model T.
But I do have to offer sincere congrats to Rep. King for just getting in under the wire in the Most Dumbass Comment of the Decade Contest. His grasp of the Terrorist Threat is unequalled, and any time he wants to run for Register of Wills in Lower Dogdick he has my wholehearted support.

And if you were going after the IRA, you'd round up all of "obvious IRA collaborator" Peter King's Oirish-American constituents. As well as "obvious IRA collaborator" Peter King. Right?

Rep. King is the epitome of a "political thug." He has no limit to what he will say or do.

Profiling would take a lot of time. There are lots and lots and Muslims and only a tiny percentage with the cojones to try this sort of shit. That isn't to say there isn't something twisted in a vast swath of Islam today. In your heart, you know it's true.

To say nothing of, the fact that you're trying to profile "muslims", and are simply assuming that this is somehow going to also going to catch the likes of, say, Jose Padilla, Richard Reid, and John Walker Lindh, those Muslim-looking guys with those Muslim-sounding names. Though, hey, at least Jose Padilla is brown. All Muslims are brown, right?

Or maybe we could just force everyone to disclose their religion when buying tickets. Not only would that be 100% guaranteed not have serious ramifacations of any sort, but it would also totally work, because it's not like anyone would lie about something like that.

100% of terrorist attacks here in Atlanta in the last 20 years were committed by white christian males.

I assume that all of you (and Congressman King, too) understand what this means.

If you're looking for the IRA, you start in Irish Bars, eh? Thank heavens Squeaky Pete didn't continue this rant with any other religions or ethnicities...

Again, let it be noted that Peter King was proud to drink in the Irish Republican Felons Club on his visits to Belfast during his days as an "obvious collaborator with the IRA".

Hi, I am Pete. Is the camera on me. Good! I can talk smart. Keep the camera running until I say something important. How does my hair look? Is this interview in HD? Does this microphone make my head look fat?
