Speaking on the House floor last night, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) seemed to suggest that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder urged self-professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to change his plea to not guilty so he could be tried in New York.

This is an extremely important point. Again, the mastermind of 9-1-1, who achieved his goal of killing 3,000 innocent Americans in the World Trade Center bombing, he got his way. Why would we give him his way by bringing him to New York City, at over $200 million a year taxpayer expense, to give him a show trial when he has already plead guilty and already asked to be executed? What happened? Did the president, did the attorney general say to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, "Now wait a minute, you don't want to plead guilty. Wait a minute you don't want to be executed. You want to come to New York City. You want to have the trial just like you asked for in the first place. Why would we do that? Because the only message we'll be sending to future terrorists will be, "You too can have a show trial in the city of your choice if you come to America."

Here's the video.

Personally, I'm hoping that she follows Sarah Palin's example. Hey Michelle: if you resign from office and write a book, you're sure to get picked up as a Fox News commentator! But you better hurry up and resign!

$200 million a year? For what?

Security? Or the intensive psychological counseling this woman clearly needs.

Pick a number, any number, Michelle.

Well, it's nice to see a Republican actually admitting that we only give terrorists "show trials".

Thus bringing in to sharp focus the central political question facing the United States today: how can we have a functioning democracy if a quarter of the voters are consumed by the kind of induced mass psychosis that heretofore only totalitarian regimes were capable of maintaining over any length of time?

Here's a deep thought.

Maybe there IS a totalitarian regime embedded into the hidden infrastructure in the soft underbelly of our government.

When we talk about the shadow government all us tin-foil mad-hatters suspect actually runs "things", we ARE talking about a shadow totalitarian regime, and the 'baggers are their unwitting enablers in the public arena.

Of course, the military/industrial complex harbors and enriches the leaders of this regime.

...and they are both concerned that their compassionate conservative base will send all that easy money to starving Haitians, rather than their collection plates and campaign coffers.

If all those "good" Christians who support Robertson and Bachman were to exercise their faith instead of their prejudices, there would be two monumental achievements.

First, the Haitians would get some much needed help.

Second, it would handicap these televangelists and wingnut pols, taking away their easy money.

Not that I expect many of Bachman's supporters to re-direct their contributions, but I'm just sayin'...

They don't talk much about it, but Katrina drew millions of the guilt money away from the televangelists and into the Red Cross, Salvation Army, et al.

Now, every time there's a disaster, the Robertsons' stepo all over themselves and eachother trying to downplay the role their listeners might take in giving aid.

because that is REAL charity, not the fake kind these hypocrites sell by the pound every day on TV and radio.

JEP07: "Of course, the military/industrial complex harbors and enriches the leaders of this regime."

Are you referencing The Carlyle Group--?? Seems like to me the closer we get to trying the so-called "Mastermind of 9-11" (KSM) in a public court, the LOUDER the party most closely affiliated with The Carlyle Group shouts about keeping the details of such a trial under wraps. Of course he knows plenty --- and some of it isn't going to please people. With the last name Bush.

Aha! That would explain Robertson's remark about the earthquake in Haiti being punishment for a deal with the devil that Toussaint Louverture is supposed to have made over 200 years ago. He's trying to discourage his viewers from donating money to help the victims so that they are more likely to send it to him instead.

If Robertson wants to see a devil, he has only to look in the mirror.

Can someone find the clips of her telling her constituents not to participate in the census and plaster them all over her district? Because if her wingnut friends refuse to answer the census, her district might be eliminated. She needs to be hoist by her own petard or however the saying goes.

We'd rather keep the seat and keep trying to beat her at the ballot box. Besides, even if we keep the seat, her home is close to a safe Democratic district, so redistricting might beat her. Also, as much as I hate the electoral college, while Minnesota has it, that's one more blue vote.

I don't think the media understands that the ONLY reason the very desperate republicans commit so many outrageous acts, is to keep them in the public eye.

The mass media is just being played the GOP for FREE marketing purposes. The facts do not matter since it's the tabloid stories that will get web and air time.

So the more full color ads or video footage made available to the public, the more the GOP plays the media for political gain, and worse the impact on the American people. When the media 'promotes/markets' ignorance, it only serves to confuse, frustrate and divide our country.

The GOP is playing the media like 10 year olds looking for attention play their parents.

So how about the media becoming the informed adult and handling 'news' like this with a text only response, under a generic headline for this type of behavior, no image and no live video.

So the next outrageous/ignorant thing Palin or any other GOPer says won't become a 'headline' story.

Then we will see how often they continue such behavior if no one is really paying attention.

"...the mastermind of 9-1-1"?? KSM is the guy who's responsible for our ability to contact the fire department without having to look up their phone number? Look, Shelley-baby, I know that you've been frustrated trying to find the "eleven" button on your phone, which is why we call it "Nine One One." "Nine Eleven" is something else entirely, and I hope that sooner or later, you'll come to understand the difference and significance. Dimbulb.
