Jeremy Scahill: Three Blackwater Operatives Were At Afghan CIA Base During Attack (VIDEO)

Yesterday, The Nation reporter Jeremy Scahill said that a third Blackwater operative was injured in the blast that killed eight on a CIA base in Afghanistan. He also pointed out that to have three Blackwater operatives there when such a "golden goose" of an asset was there, "shows just how close Blackwater remains to the epicenter of some of the most sensitive intelligence operations."

On Rachel Maddow's show last night, Scahill said that there was a third operative present on the CIA base when the blast went off, and that "we're talking about a CIA outpost that was responsible for hunting the highest of the high value targets."

"To have three Blackwater operatives there," he said, "when this golden goose, as he was portrayed, of an asset came in there shows just how close Blackwater remains to the epicenter of some of the most sensitive intelligence operations."

Scahill continued: "Why do we need to rely on these people, with indictments coming down, arrests for murder happening today for killing civilians in Afghanistan, why do they keep using these guys, even if it is just security?"
