It was inevitable. Fox News confirms to the New York Times today that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will become a regular contributor to the cable news channel.

In a multi-year deal, Palin will appear on the channel regularly. A source told the Times that while she will not have her own regular show, she will host an occasional series.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

When Palin suddenly resigned this July in the middle of her first term as governor, many speculated that she did so in order to cash in on her popularity with a talk show.

She and her family have grown close with Fox News personality Greta Van Susteren, who often interviewed the Palins during and after the 2008 presidential campaign. Tripp Palin, Sarah Palin's grandson, made his television debut on Van Susteren's show. Van Susteren's husband, John Coale, has consulted Palin. Todd Palin even went to the White House Correspondents' Dinner with Van Susteren after his wife declined to attend.

Late update: Palin says she's "thrilled" to join Fox.

FOX news DESPERATELY needs the STAB IN THE BACK that only Palin provides.

Everyone who helps her, she then turns on.

Can't wait to see her call Roger Ailes an "old boy."

Mark your calendars. I estimate she will turn on FOX in approx one Tom Friedman time unit (6 months)

Quicker "THEN?"

He didn't throw his grandmother, or anyone else under the bus. If anything, Wright tried to throw Obama over. But you might want to check out the difference in meanings between "than" and "then."

Legendary? In the sense of being a figment of your imagination, yes.

In the sense of your ability either to provide documented examples or to show that anyone other than yourself has been documented to believe so... Not so much.

Or are you making a How I Met Your Mother reference, and you imagine yourself to be Barney?

"so you didn't even look it up, typical lazy liberal."

It's hilarious to accuse me of "not looking it up," when you've already admitted you didn't look it up yourself.

I will defer to your knowledge of liberals, since you are presumably one yourself, and are trying to make conservatives look bad. I haven't said one word about until now about conservative vs liberal, but rather about Democrats vs Republicans. Republicans aren't conservative any more... Hell, they don't stand for any ideology any more. They're strictly tribal -- if an idea comes from within the GOP, it's OK, if not then not.

A hypothetical President McCain could have made the exact same moves Obama has -- word-for-word legislation, same people appointed, etc. -- and Republicans would be falling all over themselves in praise.

I suppose a liberal like yourself wouldn't understand I'm criticizing you from the right, not the left.

Just to be fair, I did the googling you couldn't find the time to do (for those interested, here it is).

The thing of it is, the lists that show up either a) were compiled during the election when someone had an ax to grind, or b) are comprised of people who did something illegal, unethical, stupid, unpatriotic, racist, counterproductive, etc.

Your implicit argument is that loyalty is the single great value that should be worshipped above all else. You appear to believe loyalty should come before the law; before principles; before ethics; before patriotism; before human decency.

I'm sure you fit in well with the Republican party. They, after all, believe party loyalty comes before the law; before principles; before ethics; before patriotism; before human decency.

(I wonder if McCain has ever figured out that every time he stood at a podium that said, "Country First," he was campaigning for Obama?)

To me, to "throw someone under the bus" means it has to be gratuitous. It has to be done not because there's some legal or ethical justification for it, but because of the sheer fun of the thing. If you can show some examples of that, you might have a case. If not, you're just an embarrassment to your party, and you're probably winning people over to supporting Obama all the more strongly each time you open your mouth.

your definition of getting thrown under the bus is incorrect. i suppose one who does the throwing could agree with you, but not the one who has been thrown. what i find amusing is your premise that democrats are any different then republicans[which they are not]. the sooner the american people realize this the better. the dems and the repubs are both whores, all we do is haggle over the price.

oh, and by the way, throwing someone under the bus is usually a survival instinct, you do it to save yourself from getting in more trouble, and it often works. mccain has done it many times, and i've seen obama do it too. in fact i can't name any politician on the national scene who hasn't. wait till you see how pelosi throws reid under the bus over healthcare, she will blame the senate, the senate will blame the house, and we will get an increase in either our taxes or premiums. you heard it hear 1st. the 'cadillac' plans will be taxed, and you know who has them? the unions, who gave up wage increases for better healthcare plans. you know who are exempt? the house and the senate. hahahaha, unions under the bus, but they won't even know who threw them there, so they will blame the hapless repubs, who, much to their own shame, haven't even tried to get involved except to say no.

"your definition of getting thrown under the bus is incorrect."

Umm... No. It's not yours, obviously. But since you appear to live on a planet of your own making, impervious to observation or what other people think (or the idea their thoughts could possibly be valid), I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

"what i find amusing is your premise that democrats are any different then republicans [which they are not]. the sooner the american people realize this the better. the dems and the repubs are both whores, all we do is haggle over the price."

This sounds very much like someone who is a whore at heart, justifying it by saying, "everyone does it." Perhaps you do -- I couldn't say. But no, not everyone does.

"oh, and by the way, throwing someone under the bus is usually a survival instinct, you do it to save yourself from getting in more trouble, and it often works..."

This says so much more about your own lack of ethics and morals than it says about anyone else, you should feel naked. Let's just gently say it's not universally true.

the definition in urban dictionary of 'throw under the bus' is to sacrifice someone else who is vulnerable for your gain. of course you don't accept that, you probably do it to others all the time. you are wrong in your definition, be man enough to say it, and smart enough to learn from it.

"the definition in urban dictionary of 'throw under the bus' is to sacrifice someone else who is vulnerable for your gain."

First off: The Urban Dictionary? Say no more, squire!

But, OK, let's even be nice and say that's a valid definition. The problem is, using the lists that turn up from the Google search you suggested (still here, for those interested, it doesn't apply to Obama. The overwhelming majority of the people listed were either a) Stronger than Obama at the time, meaning he was the vulnerable one, b) Were people who by no longer associating them, hurt Obama's career, thereby not resulting in any gain, or c) Both.

So your definition is right, mine was wrong. Trouble is, that actually hurts your argument.

Actually, since brien was taking your definition as a courtesy, it doesn't, really.

Especially considering that the full definition given on urbandictionary that you're suggesting we use is:
"to sacrifice some other person, usually one who is undeserving or at least vulnerable, to make personal gain."

So how come you left out the vulnerable part? Surely it took more effort to type the rest of it out when you could have just copy-pasted the whole thing, and been more accurate to boot.

so we come full circle.

from making up the news to presenting the people who cant be held accountable for making things up and its all main stream and accepted as part of the debate.

we are beyond being screwed.

we now live in fantasy land where nothing that goes out on the airwaves resembles what it actually going on and people have no way of telling they are being lied to.

the manipulation and propaganda that fox represents is complete and the ywill use their influence to move the country in any direction they choose.

nothing good can come of all this....

There is inherent danger to mankind, yes, even to the future of Planet Earth. This much fundiStupid Christianity in one place -- you got yer Huckabees, yer Brit Humes, and now yer Palins -- all this concentration of religious BS could create a black hole. If that were to happen, almost instantly the entire planet could shrink to something smaller than Sarah Palin's brain. Yes, this concentration of stoopid and religion could kill us all.

Because she'll babble like a clueless high school beauty queen off script?

Because she'll give "Saturday Night Live" material for weeks?

Give me a break Sarah, "When the going gets tough, I quit" Palin can't even handle half an hour of tough, grownup questions... that's why she's always on Rupert Murdocks' Fox News/ GOP TV catching slow-pitch softballs.

Fox will be something like a nature preserve for her. They will put things like Crunchwrap Supremes, designer clothing and salt licks in the enclosure, and people will pay money to see Sarah all happy and grinning in a recreation of her natural habitat. The only difference between her and a panda will be in the amount of body hair involved, and the fact that we won't have to ship her off to China after a few years, which is really a crying shame. Perhaps we could arrange some sort of swap with the Chinese, in which they get to outright own a putatively Republican American politician, and we get to keep a couple of panda babies.

Exactly. When a birfer sees either a panda or a Palin, about all the thoughts their limited processing capacity can handle is the single thought "Purty."

However, the distinction between an Obama and a Jindal may prove more tricky for the GOP to navigate, as I'm sure the descriptor they're looking for is not "brown." They may try to add in a Boolean operator so that Obama triggers something like "Brown AND Commie" while Jindal triggers "Brown NOT Commie." Not having access to their coding manual, however, I'm only guessing here.

Actually that was because the World Wildlife Fund sued the World Wrestling Federation over the rights to the initials, even though the Wrestling Federation had existed for almost a decade longer. The panda-huggers won the case basically because they had more sympathy from the UK Law Lords than "trashy" ol' professional wrestling. Why a dispute between an organization from Switzerland and an organization from the U.S. was settled in UK courts is still beyond me, but alas. Now you can't get classic old segments with Steve Austin, the Rock and that group without 5 different blurs all over the screen covering the old WWF logos. This is how the WWE releases all of their vintage-library now, not just in the UK. It's a damn shame.

But yeah, Fox News Entertainment wouldn't be so bad. Actually, "Fox Entertainment" would be better. Get the 'News' out altogether.

Oh, and I'm aware that pro wrestling is not an actual sport. It's still fun though.

I'm not worried about Stewart. He has been inviting her, on air, to come to his show since she became a national personality. He has handled Bill'O, McCain and Huckabee with ease. He demolished Chris Matthews and his inane book. He'd do fine. He's one of the sharpest interviewers on air and he controls the editing room. Besides, the error so many make is they assume he's "just a comedian" and fail to recognize how informed and insightful he is. Like underestimating Franken. If anything, Palin is incredibly arrogant and narcissistic, and therefore blind to her own weaknesses. Look how well Jim Cramer and Anderson Cooper did against him.
