Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told ABC News today that he thinks a new push to grant Haitian refugees temporary protection status -- allowing them to live and work in the U.S. legally -- is a political move by immigration activists. He also suggested that it may be better to deport Haitians, so they could contribute to the relief effort there.
"This sounds to me like open borders advocates exercising the Rahm Emanuel axiom: 'Never let a crisis go to waste,'" King said. "Illegal immigrants from Haiti have no reason to fear deportation, but if they are deported, Haiti is in great need of relief workers, and many of them could be a big help to their fellow Haitians."
King is the ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Immigration.

Stunning that people like this exist. It just boggles my mind how clueless these politicians are. Why do they have a voice and whom do people like this represent?! Just disgraceful.

You know what's even more stunning? Some political leaders are trying to profit from this disaster in order to obtain more power. Not only that, but they're doing it despite the fact that what they're doing will braindrain Haiti, increase their dependence on the U.S., and reduce the chances of reform. For the names of those profiteering sociopaths, see the link.

Not so stunning that such people exist, always have probably always will, but that other people can be persuaded to let such a one represent them.

I was watching a TV show about Chimpanzees. Alan Alda, I think. What they were saying was that while our DNA is very similar there are some very big differences in us. One of them being the Chimps inability to cooperate. There are instances were two might cooperate to get a food reward or something minor and they do have a social order, but on a whole, as a group they just couldn't get along.
I'm thinking the researchers may need to look a little harder at humans. Some of us may be more Chimplike than they think.

If they aren't here legally, then they need to be deported for that reason alone. Nothing else.

It's a sad comment on the state of the world that Republicans being complete and utter bastards like this no longer even registers as "odd". How very Christian of him.

All those here that hate Rep. Steve King's opinion
raise your hands if you will allow deportable Haitians
to live in your home!
To be supported and cared for by you until Haiti can be
rebuilt!
I've got to see this happen.
Send them back to help in the relief effort.

This is a great example of why we should support King's challenger in the 2010 elections, Mike Denklau. Denklau's website is http://www.denklauforcongress.com.

The Haitians here wanting TPS are able bodied and fully capable of helping their loved ones and old neighbors back home.
They would be returning heroes, coming home with supplies for the injured and to help rebuild their homeland.

Our politicians grant 200,000 illegal Alien Haitians TPS while 200,000 American Veterans are homeless in their own country. TPS Haitians are being given work permits when 12% of Americans are unemployed.
Most illegals just want dual-Citizenship and open-borders. Google "work in the states build a life in Mexico" to find out what "just want a better life" Aliens are really up to.
