RNC Chairman Michael Steele today called for Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to resign over the attempted Christmas Day terrorist attack, saying he agrees with "Republican leadership."
"Janet Napolitano's getting a lot of heat for minimizing this problem and maybe botching this whole situation," said Fox News host Neil Cavuto. "Should she leave?"
"I agree with the Republican leadership that's called for her resignation, yes," Steele responded. "Because I think the risks are too high and the experience required to do this job is too great. And I think on both fronts, she's fallen short."
Although a handful of politicians, including Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN) and Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons (R), have called for Napolitano's resignation, Republican leaders such as House Minority Leader John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have not publicly made such calls.
A call to the RNC for clarification was not immediately returned.

Let me get this straight: According to Michael Steele, putting your foot in your mouth is a firing offense.
In that case, Michael, why do you still have a job?

Uh huh re Steele and Palin. Not to mention Bush's "Great job Brownie" comments after the administration's and Brown's dismal record after Katrina. I know of no other governmental conduct that has humiliated Americans like that. Brownie also let so many die and others end up homeless with his stupidity. Where was Steele then? No doubt sucking it up to President Bush who although I am a Republican, I could never see one good thing the guy did. His entire tenure was full of missteps. I found it difficult to believe taht G. W. was George H. W's son.

I have to laugh at what a ma-roon Steele is. If everyone he has stated should resign, the government would have 4 people in it. They couldnt have made a better choice for the man at the election helm of the party and has to oversee the coming teabagger demolition derby. You know he will get medieval on their asses, 'cause Micheal Steele, you da man!

I really wish the MSM wasn't stuck on stupid. Napolitano did not say the system worked prior to the suspect boarding the plane!!!!! She said the FAA, notification and intelligence sharing systems worked after the attempted attack. It's pretty easy to just go back and read the transcript of her comments, but I guess that would be too much like right. Geez these pundits are so freakin lazy!

What a crock. If saying something the other party didn't agree with was grounds for resigning, would anyone in the world hold any position anywhere?

Michael Steele needs size 54 red shoes, a giant bow tie, a big red nose, and a squeeze bulb horn to honk when he wants us to look at him. He should take a hint from Harpo Marx. You can still be funny and not say a word. It would be better if he did not say a word.

A book-hawking Steele might say anything. But actually I'm a bit surprised the Nap' calls to resign haven't been more pronounced.
A. because it's a no lose for the GOP. B.Her out-of-context comment can be played over and over by MSM having a multiplying effect, they can really fly with.

Once again the liberal racist are following the Sen. Bird and Gov. Wallace format for political hay making. Michael Steele is a gentalman and wants the terrorist out there to be found and punished. There is no leadership in the Whitehouse, just a reader in a nice suit. Speaking of nice suits, where is the guy that helped the Panty Bomber get on the flight?
Our Presidnet is usine the "5000 foot above the target" warfare and causeing 10 times the hatered in Yemen then Getmo will ever have caused.

Where did you see racist comments in anything above? Steele might be a gentleman, I don't know him. But when he opens his mouth stupid things come out. That's reality, and it's what is being said in these comments. If I follow your line of thinking, you must be a racist for criticizing Obama.

I don't recall Condi stepping down after 9/11, and I don't recall many Bushies stepping down after there were clearly no WMDs in Iraq, but I guess IOKIYAR.

The nice thing about Michael Steele, is how much he trusts himself to be able to say anything, by completely discrediting himself whenever he opens his mouth.
