Last night, Rachel Maddow called out individual Republicans for voting against the stimulus, then taking credit for projects it paid for back home. She also had some words for the Democrats, telling them that trying to work with Republicans "is like trying to teach your dog to drive. Wastes a lot of time, it won't work, and ultimately the dog comes out of the exercise less embarrassed for failing than you do for trying."

I've often wondered if Democrats shouldn't be using a stick, along with the carrots. If the Republican's are so against something, and vote no, then they don't get the benefits. No stimulus funding for their districts or states, because they didn't want it. They're on the record, make them live up to their stand. I guarantee that you'd see a sudden stampede of vote changes after one or two times getting whacked with the stick.

Doing the right thing for all of us is good policy. Punishing people for the petty behavior of our representatives is bad policy.
We routinely express support for citizens of a foreign country even though we disagree with their government. It's a way to undermine the perceived legitimacy of the leadership.
If only the same people who were exposed to the press releases featuring the pork deliveries were also exposed to Rachael's litany of hypocrites...

Every Democrat should watch Maddow--she is so right on what should be major talking points.
And, Sallomar, criticisms should be based on content, not on looks or hair. Do you critique Beck or Olbermann on hair style? If you have something substantive to say, say it.

Beck is a slimy toad, and Olbermann is a mongrel with hydrophobia. With apologies to the canine & reptile communities. Substantive? Whut that mean?

Why aren't the Tea Baggers attacking these hypocrites for participating in this out of control, government spending?
... oh, that's right. Because the Tea Baggers are hypocrites as well. A thinly disguised arm of the Republican party's "far right" whose only true interest is attacking every breath President Obama takes.

She was perfect, as usual. I've printed out the list and will use it regularly when calling Congress.

Rachel is smart, prepared and usually right on target. She was great last night. Too bad, it wasn't on every media outlet for the whole country to see. My dream job for her would be for her to be moderator on MTP. She asks better questions than anyone on TV and then follows up. She is always prepared.
