Add Rep. Vic Snyder (D-AR) to the growing list of lawmakers saying they've received death threats in the wake of health care reform becoming law.

The Associated Press reports that Snyder was told about a letter by the Capitol Police on Tuesday saying he's a target for assassination. The police intercepted the letter.

Snyder read from a copy of the original saying: "It is apparent that it will take a few assassinations to stop Obamacare. Militia central has selected you for assassination. If we cannot stalk and find you in Washington, D.C., we will get you in Little Rock."

No surprise the tea party is really the republican party or what's left of it. Sarah is the highlight of the tea party. Everyone knows the tea party is a haven for racist and bigot to target political figures. That's it, nothing else. Check out this article on the tea party exploitation of the conservative agenda, its pretty interesting

When is this going to end? When someone (God forbid), gets killed? Or perhaps a member of their family? This needs to end and end now. Violence is never the answer no matter what people may think of this Health Care Reform bill.

There are those who believe that only violence works. They usually end up in prisons or nuthouses. Unfortunately, some of them first succeed in killing one or more others first.

I suspect, though, that the majority of those making threats are equivalents of Troxel/Coleman and Alabama "Kristalnacht": they only ever think about their "rights" -- and "unconstitutiponal obstacles" to their acting on them. It's only after they fuck up big time -- successfully leading the authorities to themselves -- that they get forcefully sat down and have it shoved down their throats that -- guess what? -- OTHER people have rights ALSO; and those rights are ALSO not to be violated.

Thus ya get Coleman going from, "Oh well, collateral damage," to, "Oh, shit! My ass could end up in jail!"

What's the old saw attributed to lawyers' advice? "Never put it in writing/on answering machine/voicemail."

Your's is a truly rational response. But alas, although I am a moderate Republican, I can readily say that the far right in our party will sotp at nothing to defeat Obama. Some of it is pure racism, some of it is just extreme partisanship but most of it comes down to the illegal threat side. Given that, some nut will respond to this inflamitory conversation and do something totally irrational. If you look at Republican history, we have years of overt racism in our Party's history. We have totally drifted away from the Abe Lincold point of view. I had hoped it was a thing of the past but obviously it is not. So I shall change my registration because of late, I have been far more committed to the Democratic agenda. I was totally pleased when our country elected the first Black President but at precinct meetings, one hears the most disgusting, racist remarks. So on moral grounds I am out of the Republican Party.

Will the "mainstream" media take any of this seriously and not keep reducing it to a false equivalency, "he said-she said" situation? I mean, this and some of the other threats are grave. And as American history shows, when you don't take these crazy people seriously and stop them, the results can be catastrophic (Kennedy's assassination, the Oklahoma City bombing, etc.).

Last night I heard a local station compare a valid criticism of a Republican with these death threats against Democrats. They are NOT the same, mainstream media. Stop it.

Local TeeVee where I am did a piece on the death threat against Stupak (great visuals, that "Achtung!"/noose drawing -- let's run with it! and with the voicemail death threat left for him!"), then did a piece on the phony Cantor "threat" -- but LEFT OUT that the threat he was bitching about DID NOT HAPPEN.

I sent an email asking which is more important: false equivalency "fair and balanced"? or fact-checking?

This is the state where the respected Chair of the Democratic Party, and father, was shot and killed while working at his desk by a Fox Newz loving nutjob in 2008.
http://www.arktimes.com/blogs/arkansasblog/2009/08/remembering_bill_gwatney.aspx

The Fox Newz Killer blamed "libruls" for having been fired from his job at Target. So he marches into the office and shoots Bill Gwatney. This was shortly after another Fox Newz Killer stormed into a "librul" church in TN and randomly killed people.

Just recently another whiny loser flies a plane into an IRS building and kills a Vietnam Vet (amazing more weren't killed). Funny how I haven't seen any of these recent terrorist attacks mentioned by Fox Newz, or any Major Media outlet when talking about this recent wave of Fox Newz sponsored terrorism. Just the usual orgy of false equivalency saying, "They all do it!" when of course we know that's not true. It almost 100% from Republicans, or right-leaning losers.

I'd be taking all kinds of precautionary measures for my staff and family if I was Rep. Snyder. With terrorists like Fox Newz out there inciting nutjobs, no one can be too careful as history unfortunately shows.

I was about to say -- after Gwatney, this is very serious. I expect Arkansas State Police and FBI investigators to do everything in their power to track down whoever is responsible for this cowardly threat.
