Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH) received a threatening voicemail last night that's being investigated by the Capitol Police, The Hill reports.
Citing her chief of staff, The Hill reports that Schmidt's office received a voicemail last night from a caller "who talks of wishing the congresswoman had broken her back" in 2008.
The voicemail reportedly specifically referenced the time Schmidt was hit by a car while jogging in 2008.
According to The Hill, the caller also threatened to assault Tea Partiers with a gun, and called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner racists.
Schmidt's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment or confirmation.
While there have been a number of reports of Democrats being threatened over their health care stances, this is one of the first reports -- along with Eric Cantor's -- of Republicans being the victims of threats or attacks.

Seems strange that these threats would come after passage. But I'm not going to discredit them without proof to the contrary. There are 2 extremes to every spectrum.

Schmidt represents an R+13 district from the Cincinnati area. It's one of the most Republican-friendly districts in Ohio. Are there really pro-health care reform voters in her district? Or is this incident just made up?

Is she sure that's what the caller said? Because it seems a lot more likely that the caller said "I wish you wouldn't wear your hair like that."
In all seriousness, mean-spirited or threatening language is wrong no matter which side it comes from.
