President Obama sat down with Fox News' Bret Baier today for an interview from the White House. And things got a little heated during the interview when Baier repeatedly interrupted a visibly frustrated Obama.
Baier asked about the House Democrats' plan to potentially vote on the Senate health care bill and the reconciliation fixes in one fell swoop:
"Whatever they end up voting on," Obama responded, "it is going to be a vote for or against my health care proposal. And that's what matters."
Baier pressed him about how some are concerned about the "ugly process" of getting health care passed.
Obama responded: "There are a lot more people who are concerned about the fact that they may be losing their house or going bankrupt because of health care."
He continued: "The reason that I think this conversation ends up being a little frustrating is because the focus entirely is on Washington process."
"It was ugly when Republicans were in charge, it was ugly when Democrats in charge," Obama said.
At the end of the sometimes-contentious interview, Baier apologized for his interrupting, but added that Fox News was just "trying to get the most for our buck here."

Brown,
compare the Obama interview with the constant interruptions and challenges to the Dana Perino appearance on the Hannity show.
With Hannity and two others sitting there, Perino said there were no terror attacks during the Bush years. No one corrected her.
This is how FOX works; a Conservative guest can make outlandish comments with no one challenging them. That's much different than if the guest is a Democrat or even a middle of the roader.

I would argue that the GOP wants to have as much control over our lives as any Dem. They just care about different things. Republicans want to be able to control what our doctors say to us, what medical procedures we can have, who we marry, who we sleep with, what our kids are taught in school, etc. They also seem to be very interested in keeping the government out of the way of business while business rigs the game to squeeze as much money out of the public as possible. The GOP loves states rights, as long as states don't do anything weird like legalize Marijuana or assisted suicide. If that happens the Rebublican run federal government will be up in your face in a heartbeat. Republican run government doesn't spend less, doesn't pass fewer earmarks, and doesn't get smaller. They just would like you to think they do.

Please explain to me what these big legislative victories were. The way I remember it all the big agenda items other than the tax cuts went nowhere. They managed to squeeze the cuts through reconciliation, but now they're expiring as a result. Otherwise, they just passed some wartime craziness bills (which weren't on the agenda before 9/11 and which passed with huge margins because nobody wanted to vote against them) and unfunded absurdities like medicare part-D and no child left behind. The big things they wanted to do (like SS privatization) never materialized.
I'm as disappointed as the next guy that we can't run a truly liberal agenda right now. But let's not romanticize the other side's fictional mastery of legislative tactics.

What previous President ever endured such discourtesy and failure to observe proper protocol in a sit-down interview? If a representative of the "liberal" mainstream media had engaged in such conduct with Bush, they hue and cry would be deafening. Ditto that, I'm sure he made no progress in getting the sensible FUX viewers to understand anything. Just the fact that they're FUX viewers makes them unreachable.

I just like the fact that Obama forces the racist ignorati audience of Faux news to listen to an intelligent black person which drives em crazy, makes em foam at the mouth, makes their knarly trigger fingers itchy, makes their brains squirm like a toad.

Oh c'mon...do you think that any of faux's core audience actually watched that interview? They turned it over to a monster truck rally, or the NRA channel, or got serviced by their slow cousin -- till they were sure 'that monkey' was off the screen. There is no reasoning with those people, there is no spec of truth they will actually accept. It is really unfortunate that President Obama still thinks he should stoop to their level and bother to try.

You're pathetic. I, despite having no hatred for Obama, am able to see he's little more than a corporate whore. I think you've proven yourself without the capacity for critical thinking and instead come across as if you worship Obama. You're identical to those that uncritically followed G W Bush. Your behaviour is identical, your intolerance, and your stupidity.

And youre just some magnanimous philosopher who sweeps thru here and startles everyone with your amazing platitudes, humility, extreme clarity and grasp of all subjects.
Actually, youre just a whiny chickenshit cunt who plays that projection shit to the max...sorry, but the people who blindly apologize for W are self serving ninnies whittling away at any buck they can scrounge in the post-W landscape and whatever allegiance they have it only attempts to dissuade others from remembering what an actual disastrous turn in the American swimming pool W was. We read you in here...we see whay you worship him. It's because you both breath pure shit from having your heads so far up your own asses. yea, T. Groan...you, bitch. Go find sailordouchekit and spray that breath of a thousand felchings on him..he loves it.

Remember, it is not Fox News it is Fox Programming. There is no news on Fox, only carefully planned programming intended to convince viewers of a hard right political view; programming that commonly utilizes deceit, obfuscation, and reliance on viewer's lack of ability for critical listening.

What's remarkable is that this jackass would make a snide comment, err... ask a question, and immediately as the President is starting to answer it make another totally unrelated one. It's like trying to debate a creationist about the veracity of evolution. Hit the moving target. Fox is Fox, and certainly no one would've expected anything less than a hit job- no doubt this guy would've been fired had he given a remotely reasonable performance- but you would think at least that they'd stick to disinformative follow-ups related to the original question. The whole firing salvos from every direction bit doesn't even make for good tv.
As a side note, can anyone imagine the outcry from the Repug base, err... Fox News, if that ever happened to a Republican President? It'd make a poo flinging fight in a chimp cage look like civilized discourse.

When prominent Republicans are interviewed on FOX News, the interviewers actually ask very few questions, as their lips spend most of the time firmly planted on the guest's anus.

FOX Flash Back:
Remember FOX's Juan Williams (White House requested) servile interview with Bush? At the end Williams told Bush "we're praying for you".
FOX doesn't even try to hide it's bias anymore, it got a pass from the rest of media cause they all might work there a some time in their career.

Actually, it wasn't at the end, it was near the beginning and it was on Williams on NPR, not Fox. There were a hell of a lot of softball questions letting Bush blame the Dems for the bad blood in Washington.
The only interview of Bush that was anywhere near this contentious was with an Irish reporter. I don't think he ever went on MSNBC.
Obama has a lot more guts than other presidents.

As rude as this interview was, I was happy Obama did it, so Fox viewers can see what a propaganda machine this so called news station is. Not that there are many minds in their viewing audience to be changed. But, I'm sure there are some.

Gotta love the part where Bret gets all whiny saying, "But Mr. President, there are a lot of deeaaals in this bill." Or something to that effect. I'm not masochistic enough to watch the thing again to get the quote right.

Fox News helps nature prevent our species demise by visually presenting humans' extreme frustrations. Bret interrupted often, but it was the viewers' frustrations, not 'bang for the buck', that he was apologizing for. President Obama understood Bret's plight.

Low ratings for a boring, empty-suit President. Sarah Palin would have been a more popular choice, if Baier wanted interested, engaged viewers.

Yes, heaven forbid we had a president dealing with actual issues instead of sexing it up for those of you with low attention spans. Fox is the perfect place for children like yourself: plenty of gossip, plenty of sensationalism and conspiracy theories, and they tell you exactly what you want to hear. Never gets boring in Sailor-boy's fantasy land Fox!

There is ESPN for sports fans. There is NatGeo for natural history and geography buffs. There's the cooking channel for the would-be chefs. There's the SyFy channel for science fiction buffs. There's Democracy Now for those liking substance over form in news and finally there's Fox for the 20% of the population that would truly benefit from any mental health care benefits that might become available under Health Care Reform.

I only remember Bush giving a real interview once early on in his presidency - and it was a female reporter from Ireland who asked him some hard-hitting questions which he couldn't answer so he got snippy with her and I remember the press and the thug party were all up in arms about how she was disrespectful to the President.
I never heard one of the talking heads this morning, criticize Baier for his constant interruption of the President - in fact i heard one of them say, the President was testy and lost it for a minute.
