Glenn Beck: 'I Could Give A Flying Crap About The Political Process' -- I'm An Entertainer!

Fox News' Glenn Beck doesn't care about politics. He's an entertainer.
According to a new profile in Forbes:
With a deadpan, Beck insists that he is not political: "I could give a flying crap about the political process." Making money, on the other hand, is to be taken very seriously, and controversy is its own coinage. "We're an entertainment company," Beck says. He has managed to monetize virtually everything that comes out of his mouth.
Beck's Mercury Radio Arts, which Forbes dubs "Glenn Beck Inc.," brought in $32 million in revenue in the 12-month period ending March 1.
Here's how:
- $13 million a year from books and magazines
- $10 million from radio
- $4 million from digital (a newsletter, GlennBeck.com and merchandise)
- $3 million from speaking engagements and events
- $2 million from his Fox News gig

Good for Beck, hope he continues making money. His money helps in the fight to restore our Republic and the Constitution to its rightful place in government. By default Obama has commissioned the truth to Beck, no RED PHONES CALLS to date.
American Patriots need Beck to keep the progressive scrounges in check, we all know the Lame Stream Media is in league with the Socialist Government of Obama.

Sean Penn is a Marxist and Kanye is a bonehead, both are not members of the media but are just outspoken citizens without a brain. They are not in the same league as Beck and Obama. Obama does mention Beck by name but he could care less about what Penn or Kanye say during the daily news cycle. But make not mistake Obama truly cares about what's coming out of Beck's pie hole, it's the truth and Obama is all about propaganda, not the truth.

Well, I'm actually not going to be able to rebutt point by point what Beck put on his board because I dont watch him at all. For that matter I dont watch the opinion shows on MSNBC either because I got tired of being told what my opinion should be. I find that when I'm not watching the 24hr news cycle I'm a lot less paranoid. I would encourage you to do the same. Read your local newspaper(they need the business), find a favorite local news station, and if your going to follow national news change channels now and again(if nothing else, know your enemy right?)
Back to my original point, Mr. Beck is not a journalist by any stretch of the imagination. He is by his own definintion an ENTERTAINER and not concerned with the political process, but I'll entertain your argument and pose you a new question. Was Mr. Bush expected to respond everytime Kieth Olbermann named him "worst person in the world"? No, because the segment of that show is entertainment purpose with a vengence. Now if only you could see that Mr. Beck's magic blackboard is just that entertainment with a vengence.
By the by I voted GWB in 2000, so I'de hardly consider myself a "commrade", but if Mr. Beck has made this the new trend word then whatever. Paris Hilton gave us "thats hott" for awhile too and their about on the same level.

Keith O is a progressive propagandist that mixes fact with fiction to promote his progressive agenda. GWB never attacked Keith O by name, it wasn't his style by contrast Obama has directly raised the level of Beck's stature by constantly attacking Beck by name, do you see the difference?
Beck's only bias is the Constitution, that's it.

Uh, the Forbes article states "before a nearly sellout crowd of 1,000 or so people at the Nokia Theatre in New York City's Times Square." Not exactly pushing the envelope there on huge crowd sises, is he? So let's start here:
1) Mr. Beck claims that Obama is a socialist. Unless you are using socialist in the loose, American sense of "anything I don't like" (which clearly, Mr. Beck is) then Obama is not a socialist in ANY meaningful sense of the term.
2) Secondly, Mr. Obama was absolutely correct when he stated that the Constitution has *negative* rights. What that means (if you had read ANY legal theory you'd know this) is that the Constitution is not a list of "things you have the right to do". Rather, it is a list of things that the Government cannot do to you . For example, the 1st Amendment states:
Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievance"
Please note, sir, that this is NOT saying "you have the right to worship as you please or say what you please". Although you DO have that right, it is because "Congress shall make no law..." You and Mr. Beck apparently are UTTERLY ignorant of even the most basic legal theory.
Btw. I am not a lawyer. I have not been to law school. What I know of legal theory I have picked up reading for my own edification however, the concept of 'negative rights' in the sense of "things the government cannot do to you or compel you to do" is well-known, for those people who have some clue as to what they are on about.
Hitler did NOT, in fact, institute a national health plan. The German retirement model, upon which Social Security is based, was a creation of Keiser Wilhelm in fin de siecle' Germany.
I could go on and on, sir, but I have *already* demonstrated that your argument is false on its face.

Also, Keith O uses a lot more tangible evidence and REAL experts with great recognition, as opposed to Glenn Beck who uses fake experts who nobody has ever heard of. This is why for every one infraction against MSNBC by non-partisan, accuracy in reporting watchdog groups there are out there, there are about 50 for FOX. I didn't read most of your comments dude, because I don't like to waste too much time with people who are as divorced from reality as you are, but the few I read are utterly and painfully devoid of facts. To be precise the book is called "The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution" by Professor Kevin R.C. Gutzman. Professor Gutzman has given me written permission to quote from his book without reference. You progressives would never understand the bond we Constitutionalists between each other, it's magical and spiritual all at the same time.
Followers of the "Living Constitution" hate Professor Gutzman's book because the good professor destroys the myths of the so-called evolving Constitution.

No, Beck spells out exactly what Obama is all about in Obama's own words or words from his Administration, friends or from historical fact.
So far Obama has failed to meet Beck's challenge and call Beck on the RED PHONE to correct anything that he might have error on.
Have you ever watched Beck do his thing on the blackboard? Quite impressive, you would learn a lot more about Obama than you are willing to admit.

I've never watched the Beck show and have no intentions to, but I've seen his sort of entertainment before and am not impressed.
Obama should no more call him than Bush should have ever called Michael Moore or the moveon.org people. Haters hate and there is little to be gained by addressing them.
As far as what Obama wants, I don't think anyone here would dispute that he thinks the government ought to do more for people than has recently been the case. To the extent that there is a spectrum of government involvement from less to more and to the extent that more direct government over people and our system of economic activity equals socialism, then Obama is more socialist than the status quo.
I am on your side of the debate regarding the heath care bill and I suspect many other things, but going all bat shit over Beck, chalk boards and red phones isn't helping rational opposition to bad policy.

But clearly the role of government in the lives of most Americans is much higher now than in the 1920s. We have entire regulatory schemes that didn't exist back then, not to mention most of the safety net. Plus of course confiscation of wages (taxation) and other diversion of private into public hands.
Simply, distribution of wealth isn't really a very good metric
to use.

Unfortunately, it's true whether it does or not. What Beck says is often vicious and racist, i.e., Obama is a racist. Obama hates white people. Colbert, on the other hand, does schticks that poke gentle fun. That hard meanness is missing. I would say that Jon Stewart might be a better choice, Although, he is so swift with his wit and can be so paralyzingly biting I think he would verbally dismember Beck in probably 5-10 seconds. And where's the fun in that?

I saw the quote and there is very little directly from Beck in there. On the Forbes article they are saying it has been misconstrued and the quote has been edited, that it is mainly filling provided by the writer. I would really like to see the full transcript of that sequence.
