You debate an odd bill, you hear some odd testimony. But this...

The Georgia House Judiciary Committee took up a bill last week that would "prohibit requiring a person to be implanted with a microchip," and would make violating the ban a misdemeanor. According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one exchange from the hearing could have been ripped right from Dr. Strangelove.

The Journal-Constitution reports that things started getting weird when a woman who described herself as a resident of DeKalb County told the committee: "I'm also one of the people in Georgia who has a microchip." Apparently no lawmaker took this as a warning sign, and she was allowed to continue her testimony.

"Microchips are like little beepers," the woman told the committee. "Just imagine, if you will, having a beeper in your rectum or genital area, the most sensitive area of your body. And your beeper numbers displayed on billboards throughout the city. All done without your permission."

"Ma'am, did you say you have a microchip?" state Rep. Tom Weldon (R) asked the woman.

"Yes, I do. This microchip was put in my vaginal-rectum area," she replied.

No one laughed. State Rep. Wendell Willard (R), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, asked her who had implanted the chip.

"The Department of Defense," she said.

Willard thanked the woman for her input, and the committee later approved the bill.

And if the esteemed legislator had asked if the chip remained in place there would he a debate on whether the questioner or the answer was more anal retentive.

kollund,

all Patriotic Americans are heterosexual, so the flag should be hetero, unless it chooses to be gay, or a crossdresser, in which case it becomes a French flag.

I myself chose to be hetero when upon my birth the doctor handed me Form #T-34d, the Sexual Identification/Orientation Form, and I checked the box for Hetero.

Forcibly implanting a microchip in someone's vaginal-rectum area is only a misdemeanor in Georgia?!? I think that's the real scandal here.

This is a fairly common paranoid delusion. Valerie Solanas, who shot Andy Warhol, also believed secret agents planted a transmitter in her uterus.

But hey, in this lady's case, it could be real.

"Willard thanked the woman for her input, and the committee later approved the bill."

The committee then immediately adjourned to check whether the tingling sensations around their noses was due to their own chips.

This is an undeniable demonstration of what a great country this is. That someone so patently unhinged is able to remain at large and, indeed, then testify before a governmental body considering a remarkably lunatic proposition.....it takes one's breath away.

'vaginal-rectum'?!??

since 'vaginal' is an adjective and 'rectum' is a noun, i can only guess that 'vaginal' is modifying 'rectum' in this construction. and yet i'm having trouble picturing what exactly a vaginal rectum would look like... guess i'll have to fire up ye olde google image search....

"Alien Implant!!!"

Hollywood might have some trouble getting Sigourney Weaver to do THAT sequel, no?

The Alien gut-busting birth scene sure takes on a new "angle" with this plan.

Sure would be a lot funnier than the old sequels.

Maybe Mel Brooks could make this one...

Shooter thought doctor implanted tracking chip
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 2:51 AM

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A mentally ill gunman who killed a hospital worker and wounded two others was upset with a doctor who he thought had implanted a monitoring device during an appendectomy in 2001, police said yesterday.

Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen IV said Abdo Ibssa first entered a medical tower near Parkwest Medical Center and asked for the doctor. After being told the doctor wasn't there, Ibssa went to another area where patients are discharged and opened fire with a revolver.

He killed himself after shooting the three women. He would have been 39 yesterday.

"There was less than five seconds from the time of the first shot until the last shot," Owen said.

Investigators found a note at Ibssa's Knoxville apartment in which he said the doctor had implanted a chip that was being used to track his movements, Owen said.

Haloperidol, an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia and Tourette's syndrome, also was found at his apartment, but investigators think he hadn't been using it.

Who elects these people? I cannot claim to hold Georgia in high esteem but I am sure that 51% of voting Georgians aren't idiots. How does this happen? I watched the Arizona state legislature from the balcony some years ago and It was like watching a large group of 13 year old middle-school drop-outs arguing loudly and with conviction about who could make the most authentic fart sounds. Who elects these people? Why hasn't the U.S. self-destructed? Who are these people and where do they come from? How did they avoid education altogether? Such a puzzlement.
