
Achieving an unlikely harmony between old and new media, an anonymous group of Atlanta business owners is using a website to crowdsource the funding of an anti-Obama billboard campaign.
The group -- Billboards Against Obama -- was formed several weeks ago, and has already put up several billboards in the Atlanta metro area, according to local news reports.
While the group plans to remain anonymous, they have asked life coach, motivational speaker, and New York Times bestselling author Tommy Newberry to act as their spokesman. Newberry told TPM that the group was united by a common frustration against Obama and a desire to do something with that feeling.
But why billboards?
"Where are the people? They're out driving around," Newberry told TPM in an interview.
On the group's website, people can contribute money, sponsor new billboards, and even contribute new billboard designs. "Be seen -- be heard -- before it's too late!" the site reads. "There is a war going on...a war for the future of America!"
Currently, there are three billboard messages:
Each billboard features an illustration of President Obama.
Newberry says the group has received hundreds of monetary contributions so far, in amounts ranging from one dollar to thousands, and that the group is now looking to expand the campaign as far as the west coast. According to Newberry, the group decided to put their money and effort toward billboards rather than candidates because "we've delegated to politicians far too long."
"This is a way to go directly to fellow citizens," Newberry said.

Is their frontman, Tommy Newberry, supposed to be a Christian? Just wondering because he has a Philippians 4:8 project. Philipians 4:8 from the Bible: "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." I don't know what Newberry is using this scripture for, but I don't think it is relevant to promoting racist billboards about the President of the USA. I was in Atlanta last summer at the height of the August protests. The hotel we stayed in held an event for a group called the Faith & Freedom Coalition, founded by Ralph Reed. I saw some of the most vile, racist signs ever, combined with lots of Confederate flags and guns out in the parking lot. Of course, reps from all the republican candidates were there courting these nuts! Beyond scary. After they were done yelling, they all went over to the convention center to listen to Hannity speak. Wish there was a law against these so-called 'broadcasters' making money from speaking to these hate groups.

I doubt that stridently political billboards are very effective. Here in Wingnutland, you'll see highway billboards that read "abortion stops a beating heart", with an illustration of a fetus in a uterus. The only influence such a billboard has is that longhairs, interracial couples, etc., think "hmm, better push on to the next town before we fuel up, we're probably not welcome here".

So what else is new? The day Barack Obama announced that he was going to run for president of the United States, it became "personal" with white folk who live in the past.They feel that blacks have a place, and they should stay in it.this is more southern thinking that northern. During his campaign an eldely white male was so angry he could not hide his disgust with Obama. Interviewed by newsman attending the rally, the man said he said a "nigger had no business running for president of this country", because no white man was going to listen to nothing he said. He said a "nigger" can't run a country. He was not alone in this sentiment. He was taking it personally long before the these billboards.
Those who complain that they don't agree with the president's policies, were screaming about his so-called policies before he even stated what they were. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, the media and TV pundits told these Tea Party types what they should be angry about. If you keep repeating an idea to some people, they will soon accept it as truth. It's mob violence verbally kicked into action. What so sad is when some of these "angry" people are asked why they are angry, all they can say is they don't like Obama's policies. He's taking away our freedom. He's taken our country. He a socialist. Asked to give an example of how these things are occurring, they have no answers. They didn't bother to form their own opinions. Oddly, the majority of them are receiving Social Security, SSI, unemployment or some other form of government assistance. They seem to think that these monthly checks are not from the government. Apparently they disagree with vets receiving monthly checks and medical care. The VA Administration is government run. I find it funny that they are not willing to send back the SS, SSI and VA checks, with a note saying: I don't want you--the government--in my business; stop sending these big government checks to me! Keep your food stamps! Of course they seem to think they are entitled to these monthly checks because they paid into the system, or fought in a war. Mathematically, their calculations are wrong. When a person retires, and lives for a long, long period time, and if he or she happen to fall ill--that means expensive medications and hospitalization. They are wards of the government. You can't put a few thousand dollars into the system, and then receive several hundreds of thousands in extensive medical costs, and say "we're even." Get out your pencil and paper and start counting. To the bill-boarders, many of whom fit this description, why not come forward and let us see your faces in the news. Don't hide behind spokesman's coattail. Hiding your face is the cowardly, like the KKK in its hayday. Apparently you don't believe in your own "it's personal" cause. This just shows the desperation of the racists groups here in the south. They are being pushed further back into their cave, and are not happy about it.
Atlanta has one of the largest populations of progressive and successful, politically connected African Americans in the country, so this effort in the city of Atlanta is only reaching the strongest support for our President.
This effort would be more fitting where the 'dicks' actually live, in Cumming,GA near Semen's Offices.

Either way, it would be nice if some politically motivated 'vandalism' happened to the billboards so this group would have to spend money repairing the billboards again and again.

Speaking of "identify these anonymous business owners"...how can you be financially involved in something and remain anonymous. Through banks or tax records or something, it seems financial matters have to leave some sort of trail.
