Last night, Jon Stewart couldn't believe that Gen. Stanley McChrystal would have talked to a reporter from Rolling Stone the way he did. "Hey wait," Stewart said, imitating McChrystal. "You're with I'll Never Print This Magazine, right?"

He added: "You know, I may be a four-star general and you may be a reporter for some hippie magazine, but I feel like I can trust you."

This was no accident. McChrystal was logrolling and using a "leftist" publication to demonstrate that he did not need to use a Neocoward platform to logroll Obama. His hubris is on display by showing no concern that quotes from intoxicated aides would not come back to haunt him. What he did not consider was that the sum of his actions would make General McClelland (of CW fame or infamy) look like Alexander the Great. Obama should have had Petraeus (who's done his own logrolling) in the meeting, let McChrystal say his piece, tell him he's out, collect your staff and get the fuck out, turn to Petraeus and simply state, you better have a contingency. If Emmanuel goes, I'd turn to Gergen, who's a pro and genuinely concerned for his country and not partisan bullshit. Obama has the Clinton problem of assembling a neophyte staff that is not fully up to speed on the mechanics of the office, but I digress. Time to grab the office of POTUS by the shorthairs and take momentum back as Republicans are also in flounder mode.

I gather, from the adolescent beefcake on the fake RS cover, that the homoeroticism of staff McCrystal's hijinks didn't escape the notice of the DS writers...Somewhere, an excited closet case Colonel is making a furtive color enlargement.

Go play another round of golf, Mr. President.

Obama is right to not give the GOP, and the country, the impression that he's become overwhelmed by events.

Jimmy Carter let the Iranian hostage crisis take over his presidency, in effect becoming a "hostage to the hostages."

So, our war-mongering Prezidunt kicked out another war-monger. Yawn. He'll just replace him with another war-monger. The mistake was not indicting Bush and Cheney for war crimes in the first place.
